One I missed earlier, Davis signs for three more years: http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/2016-17/201...
Another 34 million from Liverpool coming our way and I'm sad to see Mane go, but relatively few of those who have left have done bigger and better things and some don't even have European football to play next year. Clearly we cannot compete on wages so we need to get in the champions league to keep players and that will be very tough given the financial might of the others in the top 10.
Think Redmond could be a good signing. Would like another centre back and a defensive midfielder as well as potentially a replacement for Pelle who I sense will be off by the end of the summer

I am the first to admit that every player has a price. If enough money was offered for Messi or Ronaldo they would be sold.
Having said that when are we going to grow a pair ?
If the club is serious about being top 4 you have to keep your better players.
I will stick my neck out and say next summer will see Frazer and VVD sold.
Sooner or later the players we buy to replace these players will not cope with the Premier league and we will have a shocking season.

I think that shocking season might be coming this season.
Is anyone else massively underwhelmed with the imminent arrival of the new manager Puel? Only a couple of weeks ago I was actually feeling quite positive with some of the names being banded about, but it's like they've dangled a carrot and said this is who you could have had, but no, we'll appoint some random nobody. Added to the fact Wanyama and Mane are now gone, it's the same old story and to me signifies a complete lack of intent.
I know we've improved each year for the last few, but our luck is going to run out...

The only thing I've read about Puel is he likes to promote youth players and play a passing game. We'll see but on that basis I am looking forward to it.
By my rough calculations Saints have £35m (Mané) + £11m (Wanyama) + £5m (RK) raised so far, less Redmond's fee (£10m?)
I imagine it might demonstrate to a prospective manager that there is a kitty for him.

With Fraser between the sticks, VVD, Fonte and Bertrand, the defence is not looking bad at all. It's up front where Austin and Long will need to show their worth or some of the youth need to come and take their chance like Rashford did for Man Utd.
I'm a little concerned about creativity and hope that Tadic can be consistent. JWP also needs to step up this year as he's been good, but his time needs to be now if he is going to make himself a cemented name on the team sheet.
not sure how ready the youth really is... sounds like the next manager may give them a chance

You speak as if Pelle isn't getting a game ... he's looked okay in the Euros so far - not that mobile but you can't fault his effort and he rarely misses the target currently (not always like that though from memory)I'm a little concerned about creativity and hope that Tadic can be consistent. Edit: looks like he's off as well!
Puel it is then: http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/2016-17/201...
