That was my concern when we sold Pelle, and it remains my biggest concern even now.

Long is two years into a truly shocking run of form, Gabbiadini gets zero service and Austin is miles off Premier League standard these days.

Assuming he doesn't get loaned out (again), don't see how Gallagher could do any worse than any of our other so called strikers, to be fair.

Will be criminal to start this season without addressing the one position which has needed addressing since Pelle (& Mane) left.

Ings on loan would be ok. Ings for £20m would be a poor move for us

Well twitter is silent (apart from people asking whether it happened or not).

Looks like Ings is a done deal.

Unsure of my feelings on this.

Nice little surprise on deadline day!

A lot of people are not over the moon by it but I believe he is a cut above what we already have.

Let's get behind him and the rest of the team!

After enduring last season's abysmal attacking displays (and seeing little improvement this pre-season), that isn't saying much!

Wish him well and really hope he hits the ground running, in spite of his recent ACL nightmares.

It sounded pretty dire/dull on the wireless but it's a point!

If Hughes persists with playing a back 5 then we are in trouble this season.
Once we changed to a flat back 4 and brought on Ings and Elyounoussi we looked a much better side. Hopefully Hughes has seen the difference and starts the next game that way.

Absolutely this!! We looked so much livelier when Ings and Moi came on. I am still trying to figure out why he started with Redmond rather than Moi. And Ings needs to start with Austin up front. They will cause problems for defences! Shame Armstrong had to come off.

I'd start like this:-

McCarthy
Cedric/Stephens - Vestergaard - Hoedt/Yoshi - Bertrand
Armstrong - Lemina - Romeu - Moi
Ings - Austin

When the output of the whole pre-season plan only last lasts 60 minutes, I’d be worried if I was the manager.

Could’ve, should’ve won.

A good performance and a penalty miss as well
Nice to get an away win and really need to focus on the home form now

Good to see Ings getting in the goals which we really need
