Redmond signed a 4 year contract which is good news as he really seemed to work well under Ralph last year

New CB we needed has finally been confirmed. Kevin Danso on a season-long loan from FC Augsburg with option to buy next summer. Looks like a decent player (fingers crossed).

Would have liked to offload a couple more players but looks like a decent squad and Ralph looks like he is making progress

Not a lot to report really. An even game for the first hour, shaded in possession by the visiting Villa side, saw them three goals ahead before the Saints teens roared back with two goals in ninety seconds to make it an interesting last ten minutes. Finished 3-2 Villa in the end.

Stand out player was the Saints 9, brilliantly named Benni Smales-Braithwaite. Full of running, tall, strong, some nice touches and finished his goal superbly. The other exotically named new signing is Pascal Kpohomouh from Man City and looks very good on the ball. Hard to tell with a season's opener as some players look world beaters and others look panel beaters but an enjoyable afternoon all the same.

Good to get the first 3 points of the season on Saturday and a win in the cup.
Portsmouth away in the cup will be the first meeting in a few years

Anyone think we will get 3 points on Saturday vs Man Utd?

It reminds me of a Jasper Carrot quote when he was asked what it was like to be a Birmingham City fan... "You lose some you draw some"

I went today. Not a lot in it, was a good game with lots of chances. Moment of class was the difference between the two teams

Still weaknesses with the team, but should be midtable with our recent performances

Very special goal from Djenepo...what a player he is going to be! A lot of players would have just fallen to the floor....he completely mugged the Sheffield defence off!

I'm really willing Adams to get his 1st goal too...got to come soon, surely!

Nice win at Pompey last night. Always good to get 4 goals and nice to see Redmond back and scoring

A shaky first 15 minutes, but the gulf in class (and finishing) told in the end.

Two for local lad Ings (at their end) was very sweet - he's earned his place in the Hall of Fame with that performance, but a hat-trick last night would have provided even more icing for the already heavily iced cake.

No surprise the blue half quarter of Hampshire is eerily quiet this morning tongue out

I'm a Saints fan and work in Portsmouth. I'm not in work until later this afternoon but I might go in with my smug "Clarkson" face hehe

Aye, top banana laugh

The pic is right up there with Beattie cupping his ear to their fans after scoring in front of them at St Marys.

Speaking of eerily quiet, what about the away end last night?
