But he'll never, bar an Act of God, win a trophy with Southampton. If one of the top four clubs makes an offer, he'd be silly to refuse it. In the future no one will comment on his fidelity, but they will on his trophies. And a player's career is short, and making hay while the sun shines is no bad option as well.

I'd like to think he'll stay but honestly i'd be surprised if he didnt move in the summer. He's also more likely to play for England more if he's playing for a Champs Lge club, unfair though that might be.
I think all Saints can do is hold out for maximum moolah from spuds/ arsenal / 'pool - we've got a decent track record with them
i know this is an old (2019) article but still...

The problem with Saints seems to be like Everton - bad back-room staff and management. Whoever is the manager can only "manage" as far as he is allowed and it seems to these days that bizarrely that doesn't include buying and selling players. Hasenhüttl hasn't done badly, but would a change be any better? With two matches left we are on 40 points, and there has been many a season when we would have been very glad of that.

What a depressing end to the season.
1 win and 2 draws in 13 games. That is fking horrendous. Massive changes needed all over the club this summer.
Fair play to Leeds, was not expecting them to escape!
Terrible final 1/3 of the season. That sort of form would see us finish bottom next year.1 win and 2 draws in 13 games. That is fking horrendous. Massive changes needed all over the club this summer.

I'm out of touch on the new owners, but there seemed to be some question marks about the takeover. Did it happen and if so will that bring money to strengthen the squad and perhaps a change of manager? As said above, if the first third of next season is like the last third of this one Saints are set to follow the example of Norwich this season. One can only wonder. The only good thing about this season is that we stayed up.
