Looks like we've gone for Youth in a big way. We need 2-3 of them to shine and then move on for 30M each and the others to do OK and be in the team long term.
Would love us to get Liam Delap on loan as well

Liam Delap would be a decent addition...doesn't look like Pep is up for it though.

I'm not so convinced by the latest addition, Mara. I'll reserve judgement until I've seen him play a few times.

It looks like a risky move investing so much in untested youth for a team that will likely be near the bottom of the league. The pressure of relegation isn't the best place for youth to find their feet.

I see Man City have a buyback clause for Lavia. If he does flourish I doubt the fee will be set too high.

The fees paid look excessively high.

I fear you could be right on the fees although it seems that £10M only gets you a very average player which blows my mind

A very average player based in England, but I'm sure some good scouting will find good talent elsewhere for less.

Man City have let talented youth for for hundreds of thousands. £11m for an untested 18 year old sounds a huge gamble.

Shame it was captured in the lowest resolution possible.

If he recaptures his form of early last season £6m is a bargain.

A few people predicting Saints to go down and the BBC's website has us 17th predicted

We've bought youth but have a lot of experience in the squad

Just hoping we keep hold of Walker-Peters

I'm getting impatient for a striker now!

Come on Kalajdzic!! You know coming to Southampton makes sense; we've got Ocean Village, West Quay, Shirley High Street, St Mary's is beautiful with its red and white towers! I could go on. And we might win a couple of games and possibly avoid relegation. What more could you want?!

That away strip look like a Paisley jigsaw puzzle! And as regards our league position in 2023, we know we aren't going to be in Europe so 17th or better is all I hope for. One can still dream though.

I'm never a fan of blue Saints shirts. Should have yellow 2nd shirts.

I saw on Twitter some chuntering about a green 3rd kit - we'll look like a team of goalkeepers.

As for the league position, dull mid-table obscurity is perhaps the best we can hope for.

The long mid-season World Cup break is going to play a part one way or another - teams like ourselves and our mid/bottom table peers won't be losing the whole team to International Duty so that gives plenty of extra time to get over injuries and re-group (aka sack the manager etc).

I don't know enough about Mara to comment, but with Broja back at his parent club and Long now off the books (phew), wouldn't that leave Adam Armstrong as our main striker target man goal scorer person playing up front ?

Well my enthusiasm for this season lasted all of 15 minutes!

No recognised striker for half the game, Bednarek and Valery starting and Stephens coming on as sub. Awesome.
