Phillips should've been sent off. Big test today - we'll do well to win tonight against an experienced Derby team.

Yep, we'll be out of a play-off place once Preston have played Aston Villa tonight and to be honest our current form is more relegation than promotion. I'm still hoping Christiansen can turn it round but we seem to be in a bit of a rut at the moment and I'm not convinced some of our new signings are the type of player required to compete in the Championship. Really hope I'm wrong but only time will tell........

1 win in the last 6 league games & effectively 1 loss away from the bottom half of the table. & it all started so well. frown

fk off! Just fk off! Its a job to these players but do they realise how much a fans weekend can be/is effected by results? What was it, 2 goals conceeded in the first 6 games & were now staring behind us at the likes of Reading gaining on us & we're currently in serious relegation form. We need to get back that initial defensive strength. Yes Lonergan fked up for 2 of the goals but you win as a team & lose as a team.

After the evidence of 14 games my view is we'll probably finish top-half but will struggle to make the play-offs and have no chance of an automatic promotion spot.
A month or so on and my view hasn't changed. Think we need a player or two in January to mount a serious play-off challenge and one of those perhaps needs to be a goalkeeper; Wiewald's howler against QPR yesterday was truly awful and, although it didn't cost us any points, on another day a mistake like that certainly will.

Why on earth did we let Rob Green go just to warm the bench at Huddersfield; surely he was a far better option than either Wiewald or Lonergan?

Goalkeeper, another striker and maybe a left back in January. I really, really, really want to see Lasogga doing well - theres obviously a great footballer in there somewhere still. Seen a few players linked but to be honest, I've not heard of half of them and now isn't the time to go buying unknowns from around Europe - we need to be getting in proven players in this league whether that means loans from Premiership clubs or splashing a bit of cash on players from rivals...

In case anyone doesn't know, the Newport County FA cup match is on BBC One Wales on Sunday afternoon.

Yep & I wish I hadn't known & put myself through that.

Ok, I get 'squad rotation' & 'concentrating on the league' (all still bks to my mind) but as our form is up & down at present wouldn't it be better to get a decent performance/win under our belt to take into the next game? Plus too much of the magic of the FA cup gets taken away when only a handful of clubs take it seriously.

Whats the thoughts on O'Kanes card? Looking at the game on 5 afterwards it seemed to be Knudsen that made all the moves with a hand off from O'Kane. Not the only dodgy red card yesterday and looking at the games some really bad decisions. But I could that about any weekend at the moment. How long before we end up with Penalty kicks before a game because a players "feelings" got hurt??

Haven't seen the incident but from the sounds of it Leeds are now accepting the punishment after further review of the video evidence; however, coming on the back of Saiz's suspension it's something we could have done without, especially as injuries seem to be piling-up as well.

What's also a worry is that teams like Fulham are now getting their act together and I still think Boro will improve as well. Therefore, I'm not at all convinced we'll make the play-offs which makes you wonder where that will leave Christiansen; the owner's target for the season was a minimum of a play-off finish so if that's not achieved will the manager pay the price? Still a long way to go but sadly it does feel like we're sliding back towards mid-table mediocrity....

We are in a bad way. Without at least two more quality signings minimum, we are a 7th to 10th team. I'm all for the owner having a plan etc. but when we've sat and watched our hopes fade away season after season, it's understandable that many no longer have the patience for that.

I like Christiansen as a man, but I'm not convinced he's good enough. I think he has some good ideas but some of the stuff he does baffles me. I can only hope he's going to come good as it's clear he'll be here the rest of the season.

Tend to agree. I also like Christiansen as a personality but some of the decisions on transfer policy have been strange to say the least and personally I think the squad is weaker overall than it was a year ago. Since last season we've lost Wood and Taylor - in fairness neither of which Christiansen could have prevented - but we've also failed to replace Bartley and have let Green go (which was just daft IMO, especially when you look at who's replaced him).

Of the players that have come in I think only Saiz is genuine quality; Allioski is ok but falls over too easily and the rest are average at best (probably not even that in the case of Lassoga and Grot).

I think we'll finish top 10 but not top 6 this season and if that's the case I think there's a good chance Christiansen will go in the summer. In many respects I'll be sad to see that happen but to be honest I'm not convinced he understands what it takes to get out of the Championship....

Green didn’t want to fight for a place nor can he play the sweeper keeper role TC wants, but I would absolutely have kept him. Wiedwald is garbage. No command of his area, a terrified defence in front of him...

I can’t help but feel it’s game over and we’ve given up whenever Grot comes on...

Call me old fashioned but in my view the main function of a goalkeeper is to marshall the defence and above all else keep the ball out of the ****ing net! All this talk about them being able to act as sweepers is just icing on the cake stuff as far as I'm concerned and thinking back to a lot of who I would consider good goalkeepers of yesteryear I'm not sure many of them would have fulfilled the quasi-sweeper role particularly well. In theory Ederson is one of the best exponents of this new art but his mistake in trying to pass the ball cost Man City their unbeaten record on Sunday; sorry but give me someone like a Nigel Martyn between the sticks any day of the week!

I hear you but that kind of thinking is why England have been st for years and the top English teams have foreign coaches and play a continental style. The game has moved on. I’m not sure it’s a style for the Championship though!

Coincidentally, a few friends and I bumped into Nigel Martyn in Leeds after the darts a couple of years ago. A true gent and we spent a couple of hours drinking and chatting with him and his best mate/agent. It was brilliant smile

Spent most of my playing career (Sunday league) as a sweeper & when I came out of enforced retirement (back surgery) to play a few more seasons in goal I naturally played as a sweeper keeper so yes, would like a keeper who can pick a pass rather than lump it forward BUT at Championship level & trying to get out of this league (upwards rather then the other way) I'd rather a keeper who can as JNW1 so eloquently put it 'keep the ball out of the fking net' which at the moment again seems to be a problem for us.

Where do I start. Utterly pathetic performance in the first half, a third red card in as many consecutive games.

We finally showed up for the second half, well the first 30 mins or so. We deserved a draw so to lose right at the end was a kick to the nuts.

Positives - Lasogga looks like he can be arsed again. We managed to score 3 goals despite being a man down

Negatives - another game where we failed to show up in the first half. Another 3 dropped points and another loss to the utter scumbags that are Millwall.

I’m doubting are chances of reaching the play offs at this rate. I know it was always meant to be a season of building a squad for a proper push next season but it won’t sit well with the fans.

The target set by the owners at the start of the season was a play-off place but you're right, I don't see us achieving that either. The only positive is I think we've already got enough points to not to need to worry about relegation but I see a mid-table finish as by far the most likely outcome.

The really disappointing thing is I think we'll end-up lower than we did last season although with a weaker 1st team I guess that's no real surprise....
