Daft appointment to begin with. Let’s see if the Bielsa link turns out to be legit!

From 88-2002 we had 3 managers, Wilko, GG and DOL, from 2002-2018 we’ve had 25.

You have to go back to 2013 to find the last time the same manager ended one season (2012/13) and started the next (2013/14) - Brian McDermott.

Would have been better (& cheaper) to have just had a caretaker manager for the end of the season. PH was never going to fit.

Also will hopefully put an end to any talk of signing Barnsley players that weren't even good enough for them.

Had nothing against the bloke but never understood or agreed with the appointment of Paul Heckingbottom in the first place; for me we should have stuck with Thomas Christiansen until the end of last season and if we'd failed to make the play-offs get rid of him then.

However, to me the revolving door with managers just says the real problem is with the club rather than those individuals. I know people love to hate him and his style of football but if he'd had decent backing in the transfer market - as opposed to the best players being sold with little or none of the proceeds being made available to him to reinvest in the squad - surely someone like Neil Warnock would have had a good chance of securing us promotion back to the Premier League? He's succeeded plenty of times with other teams so the fact he couldn't do it with Leeds is in my view more a reflection on the club than the manager.

Don't know much about this Marcelo Biesla chap that people are talking about but if he also receives no proper backing to create a competitive squad he'll go the same way as the previous 10 managers we've had in the last 6 years. The current squad is simply not good enough and unless resources are made available to improve it significantly any manager who comes in is on a hiding to nothing IMO.....

I predict the new manager will come in, be given 75p to get some new players, sell some old players that were okay, and buy some cast-offs from Halifax Town who are just in it for the salary and an eye on a premier league bench position in another club.

They could do worse than take a page from Huddersfield Town's book. Get the people with the right ethos, and if they don't like it then boot them out. I'd rather have a mediocre team that plays together and can generate loyalty from the fans than a bunch of self serving prima-donnas.

Bielsa has agreed terms and signed the contract according to Phil Hay ey al.

Massive appointment especially given our recent track record. Now we just need the club to back him and get some signings in. If Radz was serious about copying the Wolves playbook and using his contacts with agents then we should get some good players in. Add in the likelihood of Man City and Spurs loaning us a few extra youngsters and it makes for an interesting mix.

Whatever happens this season won’t be dull. Can’t wait!

It’s official - https://www.leedsunited.com/news/team-news/23433/m...

A far cry from Dave Hockaday and that fat fraud Steve Evans. Bring on the madness!

I'm now excited for the first time in years about Leeds. Most of my adult life has been spent watching us be st and have the piss ripped out of us by other fans. I really hope this is the start of something big.

I really, really, hope this appointment works but this bloke is costing a huge amount of money; I assume he's received guarantees on the budget he'll be given for players but I just hope there's something left in the kitty once we've paid him his salary! From what I understand he's going to be paid 3 times what our highest paid player receives which is, shall we say, an interesting business model for a football club!

I do also have a slight anxiety that his supposed "champagne football" style might not cut it in terms of getting us out of the Championship; however, teams like Fulham managed to get promoted whilst playing positive, attractive, football so fingers crossed we can do the same.

Hopefully come May next year we'll all be looking back and saying what a courageous and inspired appointment Bielsa was; the alternative is we're once again a laughing stock having made yet another costly mistake (very costly in this case!).

Certainly is, especially if - as he's said today - he's not intending to bring in many new faces. Of course that might just be an attempt to manage the expectations of supporters and/or to send a message to other clubs to the effect we won't be spending big so don't expect us to pay silly transfer fees.

However, if it's true - and he really thinks he can get the existing squad into the Premier League without many additions - he must see things in a lot of the players that many of us don't and be brilliant at extracting the best from them. Either that or he's sadly deluded....

Well, thus far there's been no sign of us landing the sort of quality players we need and unless our efforts in the transfer window improve dramatically in the next couple of weeks I'm thinking there's every chance Bielsa won't last and we'll be in a relegation dogfight....

Every players I've seen us linked with has either gone elsewhere or nothing has materialised.

Still some time to go though.

Very true but the way things are going my concern is more that we'll lose some of our better players rather than manage to recruit decent ones to replace the dead wood which Bielsa is (rightly!) moving on. Rumours circulating today that two or three Spanish clubs are showing an interest in tempting Saiz home to La Liga...

What happened to the Japanese (?) international we signed & loaned out (to Spain?) immediately?

Starred tonight in the friendly against Oxford. Currently losing 3-0. It is only the youth team playing however.

Yup Ideguchi is playing tonight. I’m starting to get concerned. Our first team is pretty much the same as last season but with 2 loan players added on and Tyler Roberts now that he is finallt fit.

We were abject for the majority of last season and whilst Bielsa might be highly rated he can only work so much magic with them.

The lack of new signings is starting to worry me, meanwhilst Radz is busy snapping up TV rights all over the shop.
