That was just ridiculous! Score 5 away from home and you should win at a canter but what on earth has happened to that rock solid defence we were talking about only a few weeks ago? We now seem to be leaking like a sieve and every time the opposition has a set piece we look like we're in danger of conceding - don't think my nerves will stand another 21 games of this!!

After the last 3 matches, I didn't hold out great hopes for today. Mentally calculating how far behind we'd be and how much closer the chasing pack would be getting.

eek LGI A&E dept may be quite busy this evening!

This stat has been doing the rounds of Twitter. Seems legit, but I have no way of checking really:

  • End of 1989 - Top of the Second Division
  • End of 1999- Top of the Premier League
  • End of 2009 - Top of the League One
  • End of 2019 - Top of the Championship

Next time we concede 4 we probably won't be so lucky We REALLY need to sort the defence out. A month ago I didn't think I would be saying that!

Just wow... It could have been better but the boys done good... Now just need to get past the curse of Leeds and perform like never before in the 2nd half of the season.

Thought we were the better team last night although arguably WBA had the better chances; however, despite only one win in the last five we're still top so our destiny is very much in our own hands.

Eddie was a bit ineffective last night and his departure back to Arsenal was confirmed straight after the match; no great surprise there but the question now is who do we get as cover for Bamford? Can't see anyone who's established and decent being prepared to come just to sit on the bench but equally I think we need someone as the chances of Bamford being available for all the remaining games must be pretty remote. If nobody comes in we're relying on the likes of Tyler Roberts - who is himself injury prone - or even Ryan Edmondson to step-up but I just question whether they'd be ready to lead the line in crucial games during the run-in? Arguably our poor January transfer window cost us a bit last season so I just hope we don't make the same mistake again!

Totally agree, the lack of movement last Jan did for us. Bamford and Douglas were very effective last night, Douglas dead ball game is excellent. Dallas has improved so much this season. Pablo, Shackleton and Forshaw all to come back as well.

ALAW - MOT...

Good result last night, after the 2nd minute goal for then I thought we might wobble and concede another but thankfully they fluffed their second big chance in the first half. We were the better team in the second half and I think the draw was the right result. Plus it means we stay top.

We really need to strengthen in this transfer window, we need another striker, winger and possibly someone else but I don't see us bringing in 3.

I'm far from disappointed at that result! The TV presenters were practically exploding in amazement at how we played in the first half and we don't have to mess about with a replay or a day out in glamorous Bournemouth. Sorted.

Get into the Premiership and play like that most weeks - granted Arsenal did make it easier for you in the first 45 - I did not see the second 45mins - and you'll do okay ... there are worse teams than you in the Prem, for sure.

Shame about the result in the end, but do you really care - seems not! The effort has to go into ONE thing ...

Exactly.

Played well last night, could have got a result out of it. But we have more important things this season and don't need the extra matches and risk of injury.

Another dreadful day. Not 1 win in 7, another terrible decision against us to give them the goal, more chances missed along with a missed penalty, and a red card for Kalvin with a horrible tackle.

Need something ASAP to turn this around.

Yes, the alarm bells are starting to ring as this is starting to feel horribly like a re-run of last season. Ok, we were hard done by with their goal but we had enough of the game - and enough chances - to win it and the fact we didn't was our fault and ours alone IMO.

I do accept Bamford makes a contribution in general open play but to me the main function of your principal striker is to score goals and he's just not doing that often enough; he missed a relatively easy chance in the first half today and his penalty in the second was the effort of a man devoid of confidence. With Eddie gone we really do need to get another striker in before the transfer window closes because if we rely on Bamford we're just not going to score enough goals to be automatic promotion contenders in my view.

No complaints about the red card for Phillips either; I think it was just frustration boiling over but there are no excuses for that sort of horror tackle. Relieved the QPR guy wasn't badly injured but we've now lost Phillips for 3 games which is unlikely to do anything to help our current poor run of form.

Reckon Bielsa is going to have to earn his mega-salary over the next few weeks.....

West Brom have lost as well! In fact their recent form is worse than Leeds. It's wide open at the moment and I hope they can pick up. Millwall at home though who are always a bogey team.

Something's gotta give. We can't carry on like this and I think Andrea is going to find out just how hostile our fanbase can become if he screws this window up. People are fed up of failure and there's not much goodwill left.

I still think we should back the team and Radrizzani has put the club in a better place with regards to owning the stadium, but they MUST learn the lessons from last season! Exactly the same thing is happening and Leeds are lucky that the league seems to be closer this year, but all the teams in the playoff spots are chomping at the bit.

I agree Radrizzani has put the club on a better footing but nevertheless I see this as a bit of a make or break season for us. If we're promoted I think Bielsa and most of our better players will stay; I also think (hope!) some of the investors rumoured to be waiting in the wings might go public with their interest and money could be available to strengthen the squad in an attempt to ensure our stay in the Premier League isn't a very short one.

Conversely, however, if we fail again this season I reckon there's no chance of Bielsa staying and I suspect players like Phillips will also go if their release clauses are triggered; don't see much chance of an investor sinking loads of money into the club in that scenario either.

So for me it's either promotion this season or (probably) several more years in the wilderness; just don't see us being in a position to mount a significant challenge in the Championship next season if we mess it up again this time....

Agreed! I just hope they do end up making some much needed signings in this window.
