I thought 3-0 was a bit harsh on Fulham today - they were the better side in the first half but we improved significantly after the break and Hernandez was outstanding when he came on. It's ours to lose now and, to be honest, if we can't get over the line with the fixtures we have remaining we don't deserve to go up; I reckon 86 points will be good enough which means if we win our home games against Luton, Stoke, Barnsley and Charlton we're there - on paper we're more than capable of doing that but this being the Championship we'll probably trip-up against Luton on Tuesday!
Heck of a "6 pointer" that.
Only 43% of the ball, we haven't done that badly in years! But then how many times have we had >70% of the ball and then taken at most 1 point? 3 goals and 3 points is what the history books will show. I'm glad Mr Bielsa had the bottle to make 2 substitutions, they proved to be perfectly judged.
On Friday night, in my befuddled brain we needed Brentford to beat West Brom, because top of the table is best and a draw for us looked likely. Right now, it would have been better if West Brom had won! We wouldn't be top of the table, but we would have been 11 points clear of play-offs and not 8 points clear - of a team with a considerably better goal difference than us.

I was actually hoping for a draw between Brentford and WBA on Friday and I think I'd still have been happy with that! However, we've got our destiny firmly in our own hands and providing we play to our potential we'll go up regardless of what the other teams do. The Baggies must be starting to feel a little bit nervous though; it's now 5 games since their last win and they haven't even managed a goal in any of their last 4 outings...
Two points dropped tonight although actually I thought we played ok (especially in the 2nd half) and should have won. In fairness their goal was a good finish but it was 1 of only 3 shots they had all game and was a bit of a sucker punch; we had several times that number of shots and in particular two golden chances (one for Bamford, one for Costa) neither of which even forced a save from their goalkeeper. Still, if we play like that I think we'll win more than we lose or draw; however, Brentford are now only 6 points behind and, as most of their remaining games look very winnable, we can't afford to throw too many more points away....
It's frankly fking embarrassing how bad we are at putting teams away.
Next two games should be 6 points, but are exactly the type of sides we struggle against, ones that sit and wait for us.
Can someone explain how Bamford and Costa both failed to even get their heads on those crosses?
Both seem to blame the lights, Phil Hay mentioned on his podcast that we needed to upgrade them to meet PL standards, has it been done and is now blinding them??

I don't think the upgrade work has been done but apparently both players were muttering about the lights at the end of the game. In each case their misses were pretty awful but, as the crosses were from the same direction, maybe there was something that made both of them lose the flight of the ball? Regardless, neither of the chances went in so we've just got to forget about it and go again at Blackburn on Saturday! Both seem to blame the lights, Phil Hay mentioned on his podcast that we needed to upgrade them to meet PL standards, has it been done and is now blinding them??

I know it's unhealthy but was playing about with some scenarios and came up with a prediction of:
Brentford 83 points league champs on GD
Leeds 83 points
WBA 82 points
Not sure my nerves could take it tbh - lets hope our neighbours take 3 points from WBA tonight..!!
I'd like to think your prediction of only 8 points from a possible 18 is a tad pessimistic but it's a) the Championship and b) Leeds so you never know! We're certainly not making it easy for ourselves by failing to win matches like the one last night but I take heart from the fact the performance was ok and, if we keep playing like that, I'd expect us to finish on more like 85 or 86 points (which should hopefully be good enough to make the top two).Brentford 83 points league champs on GD
Leeds 83 points
WBA 82 points

On other matters, I see we're not extending Augustin's loan spell so I wonder where that leaves us with our supposed obligation to sign him if we get promoted? I can't see us being keen on spending big money on a striker who's hardly played - and has an on-going question mark over his fitness - so I just hope whoever drafted the contract on our side knew what they were doing and hasn't dropped a clanger! Mind you, all becomes irrelevant if we go to pieces and don't go up....
