I actually think that February is going to be a massive month for us in the scheme of things. We have five games against the teams that are sandwiching us in the league. We're 12th and we'll be playing the teams (currently) in 8th, 9th, 10th, 13th and 14th. April looks tough

I personally don't want us anywhere near Europe. Not that we will be. But, if we did get into Europe I think it would be detrimental to building a team that can firstly sustain a place in the PL, and the build towards the top 6.
We have a paper thin squad and already have enough injuries without playing more games and the stupid travel involved in the EL.

I won't take an eye off relegation until it is mathematically impossible. Decades supporting LUFC does that to you! Just consider this though - if we had won 2 more games (and 1 of those games is still a game in hand...), we would currently be in a European qualifying position. Bonkers! The PL is the most open it has been in years, and all the better for it.
Indeed, never underestimate the ability of Leeds United to mess things up and bring misery and despair to their fans - I've been following them for about 50 years and the agony has definitely outweighed the ecstasy in that time! That said I agree we shouldn't go down this season; I don't think we're good enough for a European place - and would struggle next season if we somehow managed to qualify - but IMO we're as good or better than half of the teams in the PL. So a solid mid-table finish followed by some selective strengthening of the squad in the summer is where I think and hope we'll be....
Well I thought we deserved something out of the game tonight but that's the way it goes sometimes. Although they did at times look dangerous in the final third I thought 2-0 at halftime flattered them a bit and we were certainly the better side in the 2nd half; overall another good game to watch, just a shame we didn't manage at least a point. The new pitch seemed very slippery but hopefully it will settle down a bit over the next few games!
I haven't seen the highlights yet, but I don't so much mind losing if we played well, especially versus a decent team. I get more worried when we are pants against useless opponents. A point would have been nice though, and it sounds like we should possibly have had all 3 given a following wind.
Poor first half but overall unlucky not to come away with something - their keeper made some great stops second half
Think the pitch will settle over time but in the meantime they need some longer studs - Chris Moyles said on the radio this morning he was expecting Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby to come on at half time
I just wish we could learn how to defend set pieces. I know we lost White from last season and Llorente and Koch have been missing but we have conceded so many goals from corners this year it's getting ridiculous now
Need the CBs back fit and learning how to play together (although Struijk has looked ok at CB) and an LB as Alioski is a bit of a liability at times (would have been some goal with the volley last night though)
Signs that Forshaw might be on the way back - be like a new signing in the midfield and I rate him and hope he can perform at the PL level
Pablo looked poor when he came on last night
Still - 29 points from 21 games and comfortably mid table. Offered me that before the season and I would have taken your arm off

Certainly happy at this stage of the season being comfortably mid-table & 15 points ahead of the bottom 3 but as a park defender it does my head in watching how inept we are at the basics. As Robbie Savage pointed out, for the first goal Struiyk needs to drop to the corner of the 6 yard box & he'd intercept that ball across but for 4 players to stand & watch the ball onto the foot of Sygurdsson was below even Sunday league level. Certainly created enough chances to draw if not win the game & not so much poor finishing as good 'keeping prevented it.
Excellent result! Probably should have won by 4 or 5 rather than 2 but before the season started I'd have happily taken 10th in the table after 22 games!
Agree with the comments on Raphina - I've seen reports circulating that Liverpool are interested in him but if that's true we need to resist and if it comes to it make them (or anyone else) pay top dollar. Bamford's just said on Sky he's surprised a more established PL team didn't go after Raphina and I think he's got a point!

A "6-pointer" game that. 0 on goal difference now. Top half of the table. Above Arsenal! Looking at the teams above us, 10th feels about right at the moment.
8 points to go for that notional "safety", with 16 games left. Press asking questions about Leeds aiming for a European spot, which is flattering, but still hell no. The thing is though, when the press start asking these questions, the buzz it makes the club a more attractive proposition for players (and the coach come to that). Mr Bielsa responded with pragmatic words, as you'd expect.

I can't see any of the bottom 3 getting near 40 points this season, they are already on the verge of needing European form to get there. Fulham only have 3 games left against teams in the bottom 6, and their remaining away games are Everton, Palace, Liverpool, Villa, Arsenal, Chelsea, Southampton and Man Utd... 8 points to go for that notional "safety", with 16 games left. I was supprised by CP last night. They seemed to go into damage limitation as soon as Harrison scored. They were ver poor and caused the game to be a bit flat.
In the end I was disappointed it wasn't 4 or 5 nil.
Cooper and Klich were much better last night which was good to see. However the quality of opposition needs to be considered.

Every time I've seen Palace play without Zaha, they look really poor, almost toothless. Up front, they have Ayew who's scored one goal this season, Benteke who's got three and just spent a few quid on Mateta who must be wondering what he's left himself in for.In the end I was disappointed it wasn't 4 or 5 nil.

Personally, as a non-Premier League team supporting fan, I'm chuffed to bits to see Leeds doing so impressively. I wouldn't be so bold as to call him a friend but I know Luke Ayling fairly well from his time at my club (Yeovil Town) and he's an example to anyone released from a top, top club that you can make it at the highest level but you might need to take a step back first. Followed his career with interest since he left us in 2014 and his hard work and commitment has taken him to where he is now.

We've not played a worse team than Palace were last night. Went 1-0 down and still sat back with the odd half baked attempt at a counter attack. Ayew fell over lots. Went 2-0 down and still no tactical change. Changed poor strikers for another pair of poor strikers.
I'd say it was like a training game for Leeds but it wasn't - they showed zero intent like they came to get a 0-0 draw and still thought they'd get one even after going 2 down!!!
Nice to see Rapha's bag of tricks, Phillips reaching 200, Bamfordinho reaching 100 goals, Struijk and Cooper with another rock solid defensive display. even Klich looked almost back to his old self last night especially in the 2nd half.
Onto Arsenal with some optimism... 7 points off Europe!

Have to say I like Ayling; he did well under Garry Monk when he joined but has improved at least another level since Bielsa arrived. If he's fit I reckon he must be one of the first names on our team sheet, an absolute bargain when you consider he only cost us £200k from Bristol City!JNW1 said:

Ayling was a bit more than that, £700k? Could apply to many of our team who have joined when we were in the Championship though. Cooper was about £375k I think. Alioski 2m, Klich 1.5m, Dallas 1.5m...Bielsa has worked wonders with the players that managers before him were struggling to make work as a mid table side.
