I have to say, I'm not sure I'm a fan of your owners plans. Having a global "club" corporation just sounds extremely soulless to me. There doesn't really seem to be any connection to the "old Man City" and it just seems that they're going to spend whatever it takes to get to the top. There doesn't seem to be any fight or struggle involved.... maybe a reflection of modern society but it all seems a little vacuous or superficial?

Of course it is superficial. City fans won't care though and why should they? Compared to how awful they were I don't know if they'd want a connection to the old City tbh. They were effectively founded in 2008.

Will it last a while tho, like Liverpool and Man Utd had decades of success? The mercenary players may well decide it's not all about money in the end and want to go somewhere with history.

It is all about the money & the current players are making history .

They have the best manager in he land as well as he biggest bank balance in the land.

WHy wouldn't one want to go there ? Other than having to live up north .

Down south is clearly full of pretentious bellends though. I know which I prefer.

Barcelona
Real
Bayern even.
Takes a long time to build a global reputation and fan base. Not just a few yrs with chucking money at it.

That's what I thought, Real Madrid will always have decades more history than City.

Reading the article, and if it’s true and I understand it correctly, then the global aupport and history will come sooner rather than later.
Plus, the way the global teams are linked means more opporunituies for young players to play competitive football and develop as players. If it doesn’t work out then they can be sold to “lesser” clubs. Like United hehe

I agree about Real & Barca but the poster originally said Liverpool & Manchester utd.

Liverpool don't pay the Manchester Wages & I'd rather play for pep than Jose.

City & Pep will always get the pick of best players that want to play in the UK .

Yes, there's no real substance to it. The league should be restricted to teams with real history, with Liverpool awarded guaranteed membership.

Why bring Liverpool into this? They had nothing to do with the discussion?

Shame you had that draw against Everton in August, spoiling City's chance of a footballing equivalent of a 147 in snooker (though a 100% win record in the Prem would be a hell of a lot harder). Great to watch your boys atm.

Because you're opinion is as a Liverpool fan that belittles everyone elses efforts because they're trying to make rapid progress with heavy spending which obviously can't match your glorious history built in the bootroom on a shoestring.

Meh, clubs can spend their money however they wish, but even with the old FFP rules it would have felt like a slightly more fair fight.

But hey ho, I agree with the other poster that City are awesome to watch right now. At least it levels out the boredom caused by the team a few miles across the city...

FFP basically just tried to draw the bridge up behind the biggest teams who already had the largest revenue.

Outside of United, I couldn’t think of a pair who make me laugh as much when they miss a penalty
