Us scousers are far more knowledgeable to know that it's UEFA who implemented FFP and The FA have fa to do with it.

From what I've seen of that "scandal" it's that UEFA come off much worse than Man City. Of course it's not great for you guys, but UEFA have bent over at the slightest pressure from a brown envelope again.

Jeees. You'd hope a decent person would try to explain what happened to the ref.

Pity he's not on duty on Sunday laugh

To be fair Sterling should have fessed up to the ref,... bad form.

yes

I'm a fan of Stirling but that the players want consistency from refs & the refs could do with help from the players at times .

I agree that's poor from Stirling.

No worse and, under the circumstances, a lot less important than the goal that should have stood thanks to Milner's pass in the quarter final v Liverpool last season.. didn't see him owning up to the ref over that or the press wailing over it the next day.

Apparently even if you say something it’s to late, the decisions made. They gave a couple of examples in the past where, I think, Robbie Fowler said he hadn’t been fouled but the ref didn’t change it.
Interesting Pep confronted the 4th official immediately to tell him but he just st shrugged.
Luckily it didn’t change the course of the game at all

i guess in that case the right thing to do is roll the ball to the keeper from the pen spot. maybe if it had been 3 or 4 nil at the time? probably not these days. would have been some great PR with all the bleating about FFP going around.

onwards to sunday. i hear the rumbling diesel from a bus about to be parked at the etihad wink

It seems everyone knew instantly it wasn't a penalty. When watching the highlights i was expecting Jesus to just kick it out for a goal kick, would have been the decent thing to do imo as already said, the decision can't be reversed

It was a game you were always going to win so the right thing for Sterling to do was fess up then miss the penalty on purpose.

Not so easy to do in a big game when the stakes are far higher though.

Sterling get a bad rap off the press (wrongly imo) and fessing up would have done him the world of good from that perspective too!

I think you’re right but it’s easy to be honest in hindsight. When there’s at least 2 players involved who’ve got a winning mentality it’s not so easy to do the right thing.
In the 2nd half there were 2 penalty appeals which City didn’t get but might have, so at least the ref did try to balance his earlier mistake.
Didn’t affect the outcome at all though luckily.

Don’t forget Stirling didn’t take the penalty though. It was Jesus and he badly wanted/needed a goal.
