You really think that Jimm?

And another thing.... how embarrassing is it to be sponsored by Wonga and have that stupid logo on the front of your shirts? What I am saying is that Newcastle fans make far too much fuss in public about the manager and not enough about all the many things that are wrong about the club at the moment.

Anyway - I'm off back to the Everton forum again to have a moan about RM.........

I'm not sure if you're proving your point or Lockharts or is it a brief snippet taken out of context from the internet wink

The only thing with Moyes was that he almost did the Pardew thing and be near the top one season, then near the bottom the next, then back to near the top again. Admittedly on a limited budget.

If you ignore the Liverpool stuff (sell one of the best strikers in the world and fail to secure adequate replacement and wonder why you can't score), Rodgers did tremendously well at Swansea - tactics, players, budget, everything. Swansea just seemed to be more positive than Everton and definitely overachieved.

Benitez won't go to a club not playing in Europe nor one that's increasingly likely to be in the wrong league.

Ambivalent about Pearson. Rodgers would be my preference.
I said this earlier in the season, I think that BR would be a great fit for Newcastle.

A big club, but without the pressure of LFC, it's the kind of job that would make or break him.

The issue isn't whether there are any decent managers available; the question is will they want to come to us?

Personally, I'd be over the moon with Moyes, Rodgers or Benitez. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll get any of them.

Moyes and Rodgers desperately need a success story under their belt and we are probably too big a gamble. Benitez? I love Newcastle, but this guy is way too overqualified for our current position. Maybe if we were challenging for the CL.

I get a horrible feeling that we'll end up with 'Arry Redknapp cry

Oh well, by all accounts we've only got to wait 24 hours to find out either way.....

Looks like it is all happening this morning.

McClaren arrived at Benton at 8:50am for the morning training session, then left at 9:00am. Looks like he has been called in.

Bookies now have David Moyes as favourite to replace him.

He is fked imo - I'd be amazed if he lasts the week.

If the honey monster himself, Redknapp, gets the job then I feel for you all, the fat useless tool.

Newcastle Utd - managers' graveyard. And I have a soft spot for your team. But why do you always blame the manager when so many of the players are inept or clearly don't give a damn? Why don't you get on the back of that useless centre forward Mitrovic someone at the club decided to buy last summer or Riviere. I mean is he really good enough for a premiership team? Why don't you have a go at the people who bring in these useless players? Where are the players coming through from the youth team? Why don't you have a single dominant centre-half about the club?

All you hear are complaints about the manager - Allardyce, Pardew, Carver and McClaren and no doubt whoever comes in next will be found inadequate as well. All this at a club that hasn't won anything for 45 years and all you do is blame the manager when the whole club needs a shake-up. As you chaps are aware, at the moment it doesn't deserve the level of supporter loyalty it receives week in and out which is what makes it so appealing to the neutral.
I think most fans agree that Ashley, Charnley and Carr are all culpable for the current situation to some extent but, sacking Charnley at this point would do nothing to save Newcastle's season and keep the club in the premier league.

The only change that can be made right now that will make any difference to our survival chances is replacing McClaren, this is why the current protests are aimed at him.

Your comment "All you hear are complaints about the manager" is patently incorrect if you actually stop and think about it. Or were you completely oblivious to the all the 'Ashley Out' protests that have gone on for several years now?

Newcastle fans want a team that tries it's best and conducts itself with dignity, we've not had that since the days of Bobby Robson imo.

Can't see it being 'arry. He lives in Bournmouth & is semi-retired & too comfy on the pundit's sofa IMO.

Harry Rednapp is no better than McClaren.... He took QPR to the bottom of the Premier league then left... and we don't need a 70 year old in charge! McLaren should have went in Dec... My own thoughts are its too late and we are going down.. so best replace with a proven championship manager to bring us back up at the first attempt.. Who's the best person to do that? maybe pearson?

As a Sunderland fan, rather you than us! silly

I think we are a bit doomed too though, we are putting in better performances than earlier in the season but we've st a few results that have cost us dearly in precious points. Norwich and Villa are sunk so now it's just deciding on the third member of the drop club imo.

I think Rogers would make a good Newcastle manager, he did well with Swansea, got 'em promoted (which you may well need to do next season) and kept them in contention well enough throughout the season, I know he got some stick at Liverpool towards the end but you could certainly (and currently are) doing a lot worse.

A genuine question as I'm really not sure. What's the big deal with Mike Ashley? The fans seems to hate the guy but the club seems to have invested a lot of cash under his tenure (especially in January), what fkwittery am I missing?

There isn't any one thing that Ashley has done, but plenty of little things that have built up over time. Including, but not limited to:

  • Driving out Kevin Keegan
  • Putting Dennis Wise in charge of the club
  • Employing a load of his 'mates' (who know nothing about football)
  • Spending almost no money on the club for extended periods of time, then spending big when forced (which is subsequently pissed up the wall by his clueless 'mates')
  • A very public spat with Alan Shearer, which end with him renaming 'Shearer's Bar' into 'Nine'
  • Slapping Sports Direct propaganda all over NUFC
  • Renaming the stadium (which technically could revert back to Sports Direct Arena when the Wonga naming sponsorship ends)
  • Going no-contact with the fans
  • Removal of the singing section
  • Employing ste managers because they are available at the right price
  • Constantly buying untested players in the hope of finding a 'diamond in the rough' and selling them big, creating a team of mercenaries
  • Trying to sell the club, but slapping a stupid price tag on it
  • Ending Jonas Gutierrez' contract, even though he had just come back from cancer and was/is a huge fan favourite
  • The whole 'buy cheap, sell high' mentality applied to everything at the club (even though we are in the top 20 richest clubs in the world)
  • Sacking Chris Hughton, even though he did a fantastic job and deserved a chance to manage us in the PL
  • Club merchandise is now outsourced to Sports Direct, so the club make no/little money on it
  • Anything to do with Joe 'fking' Kinnear
These are just off the top of my head; I would carry on, but it makes me sad typing this out....

I remember that come to think of it. He saved your arses in a relegation critical match and got the boot shortly after if I recall correctly.

s trick imo.

I've now got an awful feeling that they'll let McClaren stay on until the end of the season and re-address the situation then. Benitez if we've somehow managed to stay up, someone like pearson if we're relegated.
