Good training match for City. Tried hard but a gulf of quality unfortunately. Interesting to hear Rafa's comments at the end, sounds like some kind of ultimatum against Ashley of signings or else. Presume he will walk at the end of the season if nothing.

Kennedy seen at the central station tonight.

I’m assuming he’s not just up for a cheeky mid week night out.

If Rafa has any sense he will be knocking on the door to replace Wenger...... In the current state of play he is too good to be at Newcastle..

Anyone else suspect that we're going to hear the following in the next couple of days:

We did try to make signings, but just couldn't get them over the line...

What a crock.

Supposedly Ashley has known for over three weeks that the takeover wasn’t going to happen, but then leaves it until three days before the window closes to try and make some signings. Or at least that’s what they are purporting to do.

I hate to say it, but I’m sick to death of supporting Newcastle. We’ve got a world class manager, amazing fans, but a lying, deceitful owner who refuses to spend the sort of money that will see us compete in the top tier. And that’s all most fans want, for us to be competitive and do OK in the league. I’m pretty sure relegation this season would finish me off, I just don’t have the heart for it.

It's the hope that gets you.

You can't not watch, you can't not look, but I understand what you mean. What's the point? It's not like we expect to win, at least no fan I know does, unlike the image of the over entitled, over expectant fans the media would have everyone believe in.

All any of us want is a fair crack at it to the best of our abilities. Even that seems to be denied us though. Lack of planning and a lack of ambition, amateur in its truest sense at the heart of the club.

Dispondant at best. I truly feel for Rafa to have been sold this absolute pup.

Where was he on Sunday?

OK, no one expects you to win at Chelsea, we've got better players, and an owner who actually cares. I get that. But the players you have got are not putting it in. It was a disgraceful display. Norwich and Forest both gave us far tougher games this season. Have they got better players than Newcastle? You offered nothing. And he just stood their like a sloth on sleeping pills.

The manager is getting a free ride because of the owner's failings, and his dreadful ineptitude is going under the radar.

Cos he is a normal down to earth guy, they are into flash big mouth unlikable gits, bit like their fans I suspect.

On a different note, for me the guys especially up front are just doing enough so the fans think " They are trying "
The shots at goal are without any power or finesse, they are just going through the motions.

Some mags have been having a meltdown calling Sturridge a Judas and hoping he gets injured ffs.
Imagine deciding to sign for old fish lips instead of world class Rafa.
At least it proves one thing (when it comes to players) NUFC are indeed everyone's second team smile

The same reason Inter fans and Madrid fans hate him. Because he's no damn good. He's the emperor's new clothes of managers.

If you guys actually set aside your ownership issues and just focus on the players you have and the way you're performing, are you all convinced that the manager is getting the most out of what's available to him? Surely there must be a few of you who have doubts.

Truth is, if Benetez was a Londoner, you'd be calling for his head long before now.

I quite enjoyed our season under Benitez and despite the abuse he conducted himself in a cheerful and professional manner. I know the pay helps.

With regards to people wishing Sturbridge gets injured that's like wishing the sun rises tomorrow, it's almost certainly going to happen.

Not getting Sturridge is the best bit of business NUFC have done this January.

Did you expect more from him in the seven months he managed Chelsea? Personally think the abuse he gets from Chelsea fans is completely uncalled for.
