I agree. He would have been an asset.

We could have left TAA behind this time to accommodate Shelvy. TAA was never going to get more than a token chance this time around.

Shelvey? You mean the lad who didn't get as much as a booking in the whole second half of the season? That Shelvey?
England is doing well but we are not creating too much from free play. That's where Shelvey comes in. He'd be pinging 50 - 60 yard balls to Kane rather than short sideways passes to the likes of young who always cuts in and Sterling who can run at people but given his end product, I suspect we could create a bit more in open play. It's all speculation but he would have been a great backup plan.

Lovely isn’t it?

Kennedy will suit it down to the ground. Heading in for medical and with right to buy clause. Happy with that.

Great signing, thought when he arrived he instantly made a huge impact to our game.

Sports Direct in a hole of £85m due to Cashley's investment in Debenhams not going well.

Anyone care to guess why there's little money forthcoming for Rafa.....?

Morning Ray, trust you're well?

If your unwashed colleagues could step up the annual summer marriage fest i'm sure Sports Direct's 'formal' shell suit earnings could more than make up the difference.

Twitterverse awash with rumours of some big announcement tomorrow. Any truth, anyone heard anything?

Will be:

a) A free transfer
b) A loan
c) Twitter rumour mill bks

My bet would be on c.

I can't understand why Ashley would back Mclaren but not Rafa, WTF goes through that guys mind? I know he has no interest in anything other than 'winning' 17th place in the Premier League but really... frown

It's all been a big joke and we've secured Neymar, Mbappe and Sissoko...

I’m going with option C above, although your version could also be classified as the same thing.

Seems it was Schar signing, £3m release seems a bit of a bargain, in for a medical. Could well be a good bit of business this.

That said it is one in, one out so far and not the squad strengthening we really need, especially as by my reckoning we've not spent a bean as yet.

Was doing the BBC quiz on biggest ever transfers and saw yours was Michael Owen.

Amazed this is still the case given the influx of money over the past few years

There have been many bigger transfers than Owen.

But, as Ellroy alludes to, they've unfortunately used the club as the middleman between the Premier League and Ashleys wallet.

I thought I was more obvious than alluding?

Anyway, Muto seems to also be agreed at £9.5m.

We're by my reckoning into the heady net spend of, wait for it, £2m. He could be a decent signing this lad, but he's not an out and out striker, which we desperately need, more of a ten, so competition for Perez perhaps?

At least we're getting bodies in, but it's hardly the opening of the taps that fat Mike stated was happening.

Still underwhelmed and given the spending around the league, Wolves?!!, feel we're relatively, at least, going backwards.

Yes, more obvious than alluding.

You just know Ashley will be in pain with a nett spend.
