What a game! Think it feels like the right result which is a hell of a statement in its own right. Could have been 10/12 goals. Excellent from ASM and Pope especially

12 months ago it didn't look like would score 3 all season let alone in one match against teams like City.

To have gone toe to toe with them today and come away with a point is brilliant.

What a game.

To add, you've done it without breaking the bank. How much was the team and bench assembled for?

Before the match I'd have happily settled for a draw but after being up 3-1 ?
Toon played brilliantly, to a man. No one slacking, running for the full 90 mins. Was bit worried about Callum W at first as he seemed to miss a couple in front of goal, but he came good. Willock a little off key at times but OK. Dan Burn a tough as old boots, Schar totally in control & Pope brilliant.

A stressful 90 minutes though, great entertainment none the less

I don't know the number, but it's a fraction of the team they were up against today.

I expect our entire squad including reserves, SJP, training facilities, and a year's worth of running costs and wages wouldn't add up to what they've spent on their starting 11.

Brilliant point, shame it couldn't have been 3. We looked a threat every time we went forward and we played city at their own game of pressing when out of possession and being direct in attack. I doubt we will give that level of performance week in week out but the levels of energy we showed was very encouraging.

Still hope we can get a couple of bodies in for midfield/attack as you can see how light we are in squad when we start bringing subs on.

What an afternoon.

Still can’t quite believe the level of performance, a draw about the right result in the end.

Absolutely delighted for Miggy to get on the sheet, one in the eye for the wage stealing floppy haired twunt.

ASM was unplayable and Pope was again brilliant. I’m not sure there was a poor performance in the park, which after the farcical defending for their first says something.

Huge credit to Eddie and his team, the work they’re doing in training etc is paying off in spades.

Need a couple in to give us some depth, and cover for Wilson, mind.

I think my attitude before the game echoed that of many Geordies; it would be another comprehensive win by a team that are looking absolutely impervious this season. An early, albeit soft goal seems to confirm my fears, so what a joy to see us fight back and take the game to them. A draw was fair, the red was never a red, and this look to be a turning point for United. What a true privilege it is to going to be to witness us compete this season.

Theres been a lot of criticism of the ref and it's hard to disagree given that he got 2 big decisions wrong which had to be overturned with VAR.

I switched on at around 10 minutes in and wasn't surprised when we were one down.

However, what did surprise me was the level of performance we put in for the remainder of the half. Genuinely thrilling stuff.
The speed with which we were able to counter was a complete anathema to the morose ste served up by the previous "manager".

We scored 3 really good goals against one of the best teams the league will ever see, could, should, have had more and, though the rescinded red card was a relief, I'm not sure how Stones going through and over the top of Schar in the box wasn't a penalty.

If we put that kind of performance in against other teams, we'll have a great season.

Agree on cover for Wilson - we absolutely need it to get him through the season.

Got to say thank you to Kieran Trippier. He took the plunge to be first through the door of the new era and looks like he's been there years. A truly classy player. I wish I'd have been in the stadium to hear the noise in person when his free kick went in - it was loud enough in my living room rofl

I had it on R5 in the van and after that free-kick went in, John Murray the commentator stopped talking so listeners could hear the noise in the stadium. Superb performance by your boys.

Cracking game that. The most pleasing thing for me, and Pep mentioned it in his post match interview, was that both teams were trying to win. We didn't sit back and defend as that rarely works against a top team like City, they'll always find a way through. We didn't try and shut up shop when we were ahead as again, the mindset shifts to all out defend and then the pressure builds. We kept playing to our game plan and gave it a real good go to win.

The 2 home games this season have been a joy to watch!
The start of last season was soul destroying. From driving over from Carlisle to strudging to the match to driving home again.
This season has real optomism.
There is a buzz around the place and its flipping fantastic!

I can't say I know a great deal about him.
Hopefully an exciting young player with lots of enthusiasm.

The bench is painfully thin, not a single game changer so lets get some more in.

Welcome aboard young man.

Murphy is always busy but has no end product. Fraser is one of those you could switch in and out of the first 11. After that we are probably struggling with the likes of Wood and Longstaff. Maybe a bit early for Anderson yet.
