Well other than 15 minutes I think the lads played pretty well. ASM got man of the match and they still ran around like bds all game

Heads could have dropped and we could have rolled over so have to take something from that.

Beaten by the better team.
Started with a poor midfield, stupid mistake by a usually solid defence, Pope's grab for the ball just a keeper reaction but catastrophic for the forthcoming cup final.
A few of the lads took knocks, hope they're ok, playing a third keeper next week with little experience, Bruno still out, Wilson doesn't seem all there, Isak and Gordon lacking something today
ASM and Joelinton playing well and Dan Burn going in heavy but risking a card and gave the ball away once too often
Can we raise our game next week while missing key players?

Bruno’s back next week at least.

Different gravy with him.

Always going to lose at some point, but feels significant that it was that lot.

Losing Pope for next week is a huge loss.

Anyway, onwards and upwards. They dug in, didn’t lose their heads after that 15 mins of nonsense and showed the grit we expect and admire.

Remember where we were, this is a journey, we’re not the finished article and we’ve got a chance next week for silverware. How often have we been able to say that?

Not sure if I watched the same game. 15 minutes of madness, Nunez shouldn't have had that much space, Gakpo goal was well taken and Pope had a moment which has proven costly.

Once we recovered from that, I thought we outplayed them in terms of threat, they had a couple of chances late on but we didn't look like 10 Vs 11.

Every sinew in my body wanted us to avenge the defeat at their place, hopefully we will stay above them by the end of the season.

Loris will Karius to our first cup win in the Howe era.

No I think we watched the same game just from a different angle maybe. The lads played their hearts out overall, I just feel a couple of them won't be there after this season.
Still don't understand leaving out Ryan Fraser. Him instead of Anderson might have allowed ASM & Isak more time at the front with Joelinton up there too. ASM was everywhere on the pitch looking for the ball, a real improvement over his last couple of games.
We really miss Bruno in the middle (despite it being a team game and we shouldn't rely on one guy), maybe we ditched Jonjo too soon?? Certainly a mistake loaning Dubrovka to Man U but that's a different story.
However we are so much more of a team now with a spirit that we could only dream about 18 months ago.
Let's give Man U a run for their money next week.

and yes I see what you did there too (eventually).

We're really going to have to keep a tight line on Sunday having watched Rashford & Co destroy Leicester at the weekend but heaven help us if we get into Europe and have to face Real Madrid who took Liverpool apart tonight.

Tell me ma, me ma!

Remember guys, regardless of what happens today, this is all part of the journey.
12 months ago we dreamed only of staving off relegation.
Today, we could realise one of our biggest and longest held dreams.

Will be nervously excited later on. We've been off the boil last few games but the common denominator is Bruno. With him back, I'm expecting us to tick again and hopefully Karius will have a good game as well. I'm hoping Rashford is out, although suspect he will be starting.
