It has been said in numerous places already but the similarities between ITFC (now) and NCFC (08/09) are scarily evident. A supposed experienced manager with little apparent influence, too many loanees only there for the pay-check and a lack of team spirit resulting in heads dropping as soon as things go badly. All that is missing is the returning club-legend (.... Paul Mariner anyone?) making a balls-up of it and getting you relegated. The big advantage ITFC has is that they now bottom and know they are in a crisis, at Norwich it kind of crept up on us as we managed to stay out of the bottom 3 for much of the season.

We got lucky, the appointment of a decent Chief Executive turned us around, had we waited on the board to change things we'd still be in a D1 relegation dog-fight now. Easy to say but ME and your board need to give up on the Hollywood manager appointments and loaning-in 'premier league experience'- wasn't there supposed to be some spending cuts and a drive towards bringing in unknowns / young players this season? What happened to that policy?

There have been massive cuts, hence our inability to make the permanent signings during the summer that we really wanted.

This is why I feel Jewell has been supported, as the board let him down with targets he'd identified.

You're right though, a change needs to happen now. Whether that's Jewell or not. I feel Clegg has let Evans and Jewell down in a big way.

Youth wise, we're geared up well, at the start of the season we played well, but the results didn't come, then the confidence drops and the young ones don't cope so well, hence the influx of loans recently.

Tough times ahead.

Just announced on the local BBC radio that he's left by mutual consent. Can't help thinking that the problems at the club go beyond the manager. What exactly does Simon Clegg do?

I feel sorry for him to be honest.

Who now?

Hopefully at least we'll see a reaction from the players now???

My personal choice would be MM if only for the entertaining post match interviews and water bottle kicking.

Please tell me that Clegg has gone with him.

I too have sympathy for PJ. From what I can gather his hands were tied to a certain extent and that lies firmly at the door of SC.

No idea who's coming in, but apparently finding the replacement is well under way. So much for the votes of confidence PJ was given.

Ironically, I think only a 'big name' manager like Harry will potentially work now.

We've gone for two mediocre managers with a half decent record on the trot now, however if we do this again he'll get the boot when results fail to come in. If we get an unknown, he'll also get the boot pretty quick.

If we get someone like Harry (nobody can dispute his managerial acumen) and the results still don't come, hopefully ME will start looking at other aspects of the club other than getting back on the manager merry go round.

See my thinking?

We are caught in a bit of a catch 22 if you ask me and the only way out is to change another aspect (as has been suggested by Darrenf)

We need stability, not dumping managers like unwanted puppies that piss in the corner. It was obvious that he worked hard and you could see the strain on him over the last few games.

Good luck PJ.

The big flaw with this being no manager with decent prospects is going to touch the job with a barge pole. Redknapp isn't even worth mentioning - why on earth would he go to Ipswich? You should be down on your knees fking praying that Curbs or Big Mick will go anywhere near the royal clusterfk that is ITFC because you're getting no one who has a job in the Championship and they're the only 2 free agents that are excellent champ managers. Would be surprised if Curbs lowered himself to it after being incredibly fussy though and palace plus Blackburn are a better bet for a manager

Nice sentiment, but a blinkered, bitter, impartial view.

I think the job actually has a lot to offer for a top manager.

It's the speciality of good managers, turning a struggling club around and reversing their fortunes.

Don't judge everyone by your own poor standards.

Rumours are going round that you considered Shearer before appointing PJ, and may revisit the possibility again. How will that be received? eekeek if it were me- yet another Hollywood appointment that could go badly wrong.

Mick McCarthy is a good call, he would do a decent job for you, but as others have said would he take it on? With ME's austerity measures in mind and little to lose surely it's time to take a punt on a D1/D2 manager- Robinson from MK Dons for instance. Go poach someone- it worked for us wink

What utter rubbish. All Ipswich has to offer is salary. Burnley, Palace and Blackburn are all much better fits for managers at the moment. You'll probably end up with Shearer or someone st.

Low attendances

Poor team

Poor budget

Bottom of the league

To suggest it's an attractive job is bks.
