More stuff coming out about Ashton retiring in the Sunday papers I see. Very sad, IMO he had the tools to have been something special both for WH and England.
Yep, bloody shame. Had the potential to be really special. Pity that we never got to see him up front with Tevez couple of seasons ago, would've been an awesome combination.

Hopefully the club's been keeping up with the insurance payments, should be in for a decent payout if he can't return or we'll have to pursue the FA (?).

On a positive if he's going ought free up some cash from the wage bill... that will go to pay curbs payout rolleyes

And Zola is going to get the Chelsea job, on the same day he signed a new contract at Upton Park!
Don't believe everything you read in the papers, they couldn't even report properly on the crap level of sport I played in when I was younger. Never forgiven a local rag for printing a 7 year out of date photo of me sporting a curly perm!

No point Coley going to Liverpool, they look as likely to get into Europe as us at the moment biggrin Still, I'll be happier if we end the window with a full squad... and maybe some additions.

Does anyone have any more updates on this supposed take over? I am starting to get worried that January is fast approaching and Green, Upson, Cole and Behrami, for all their good intentions, must surely have one eye on the World Cup? Could be Upson's last chance at a World Cup and Cole too because if he has a dip in form it wouldn't be inconceivable that he could end up slipping down into a Championship team in a couple of years.

Being stuck in the relegation zone all season isn't going to help their chances too much. But I do hope they prove me wrong smile

There was a few lines in todays Evening Standard, supposed interested party still in discussions & proving themselves to the bankers. Who knows, something may come of it, apparantly their all WH fans...

Think that reality of the clubs position will be tested come Jan if a buyer's not been found.

See the news about cudducini earlier - suspect another tap up from 'arry in Green's direction if the Italian's out for the rest of the season, although hopefully he'll take James from pompey.

Tompkins out with illness,Stanislav out with leg prob, and Hines didn't get on as he played 4-5-1. Crap game won 1-0. Carroll was very impressive up front.

Indeed, this is a pivotal match. If we don't win then Hull will be at least 2 points clear from us.

Did anyone read the Standard yesterday? I had a long District line train from Richmond to Monument to ponder what Zola said about the talk of transfers affecting the squad. So I guess it's nailed on that at least Cole and Upson will be waving bye-bye, with Behrami and Green probably hanging on until the end of the season but then having good world cups which can pay off some more Icelandic debt.

It really does piss me off that unsuitable people are allowed to get involved in the running of football clubs and then just pissing 100 years of heritage up the wall in the vain attempt to make a few quid. I bet Steve Clarke must be scratching his head and wondering why he bothered to move across London now! The journey from Farnborough to Essex everyday can't be too fun either compared with his old trip to Cobham!!

Didn't read it mate. Sounds as depressing as being 3-2 down from 2-0 up.

Hull just had some one sent off though.

C'mon You Irons!!!!!

Mark Clattenburg is an absolute pissflap. That was never a penalty. I am livid.

Their first goal was filthy as well. We needed a win here and should have got it. How many fcensoredng times are we going to give away idiotic free kicks 5 yards outside the box from which we conceded before we finally learn the lesson? We've had this problem for months? Middlesbrough knocked us out of the FA Cup last year by scoring a close range free kick, we've conceded countless goals the same way since and we've done it twice again today.

In general our defence was pretty good last year, what the hell has happened to Steve Clarke's defensive coaching?

furious I hate the North. Hull, Sheffield, Liverpool, Manchester...

The last bit is slightly tongue in cheek, but I do hate Hull and Sheffield United.

Never should've sold Collins. Watched it on MOTD, their pen was a joke. Another 3 points dropped.

Quality goal from Collison though.

Burnley up next. Really got to get the points on that one.

Only positive from the weekend at least P'Mouth & Bolton lost.
