This is a shame. I like Sunderland. I like Chris Coleman.

One will be responsible for the destruction of the other. I think it'll be Sunderland doing the destroying, but I'm not sure.

I have hope. The guy is very perceptive, knows football inside/out, and he's a very nice chap to boot.

I've been very dismissive of Short/Bain's prior appointments, especially Grayson, but this feels like something altogether more positive.

Let's see. Cheered me up, first time I can say that about my club in a very very long time.

Agreed. Coleman could have had a reasonable pick of clubs following what he did with Wales, and the thought of the risk to his career means either he's very brave or knows something that no one else does.

I'm not so sure about this sir, He's not going to have a Gareth Bale at Sunderland.

If he was that good then why wasn't he linked to Everton or West Ham ?

I hope i'm wrong as i think he's a decent enough chap & i pretty much like Sunderland .

I used to be a shareholder at Sunderland (until Drummaville), have seats from Roker Park in my back Garden, one or two tattoos professing my love, and a model of the SoL in one of our cabinets in the lounge. So I'm basically a Sunderland fan, and until tonight, hurting quite a lot.

But you're not wrong with the AFC thing, both my boys were born down here and are AFC fans, so we go to the Emirates and follow Arsenal when we can't get to Sunderland,

Sunderland first, Arsenal second - by proxy, Hartlepool third (don't ask).

I'm all about the NE. It's good that you have a manager.
Seriously though, this pains me. Hope I'm wrong.

It strikes me you’ve got a good manager in for the wrong reasons. I’m not sure the issues you’ve got are going to be solved without changes behind the scenes and getting rid of some players who clearly still can’t be arsed to play for you.

Anyway, good luck. ( I feel dirty now, going for a bath.)

Absolutely - I hope he is able to get rid of the rotten core, both in the team and throughout the remainder of the club, as that is the only way we'll get out of this cycle of failure.

Enjoy the bath, and good luck against Manure later, I suspect you're going to need it.

Gooner myself, and a pity to see you lot where you are.

Don't rate Coleman at all and think its a poor appointment.

Good luck and all.....but don't hold out much hope for you

Although it's still not confirmed, and I hope it isn't, I agree completely with you. His record isn't all that good in fact it's poor. God knows what ste Short has told him. I'll give him to the end of the season, if he gets us to fourth bottom it'll be a success.
On a lighter note I listened to the commentary and they reckoned BOTH goalkeepers were on hat tricks today biggrin

Just A goalie would be nice! We have a very rich history of goalkeepers, stretching back quite someway - but these two (Ruiter, Steele) look like an outfielder who's been asked to step in when our propor goalie has had to go off.

Embarrassing! hehe
