Drove a hatch when I still had the Twin Scroll, but never bought as my Newage had all the T25 stuff on it and I could put all 416ibs torque down on the road, whereas the hatches were still an unknown in 2008.
Might get one yet though.

AST's Coil over suspension.
HT Auto Front lip spoiler.
low level rear spoiler
Rally Armour mudflaps (from USA)
Zunsport Black lower Grille
Red Tuner Wheel nuts

Fitted some rally armour mudflaps today and to be fair was a nice staight forward Job









I've remove most of the "badges" asit was just tooo "Busy" before and had the silver boot thingy colour coded




Now upgraded with the 340R Pack awesome

Many have said the same but I doubt many of them would/could stomach the price. The car would probably be worth more in parts as it's all the best of the best. Swap for a GTR wouldn't be out of the question though .

I submit my humble Impreza GX 2.0 AWD. Bought off my dad for £2900 after a disaster involving buying a faulty Audi TT and subsequently getting my money back for it. It's a 2005 model with two previous owners, my dad having had it for a few years now. 61,000 miles on the clock and much cheaper to run than my MR2 Turbo was! I had bought it with the intention of having it as a runner for a few months whilst I went back to the drawing board and thought what I wanted next (the dream of a Sierra Cosworth having been permanently shelved). Having given it a good few drives in the last week I've really taken a shine to it and I suspect I will keep it for a while. It has finally satisified my desire to own a car with a perforated leather grip on the steering wheel too.

It's a bit of a shock coming from the 240bhp MR2 into this with something like 124bhp. But the Impreza is stalwart enough, and has enough urge and low end power to be usefully quick on the commute. On the B roads it really comes into it's own, the symmetrical AWD is a joy (and better than the TT's Quattro system). The amount of grip it has through corners is superb and the balance of the vehicle is marvellous, you can really dart between the corners with confidence. The sharp turn in does not disappoint, even with the weight transfer through double bends being very tidy and controlled, and a surprisingly neutral handling characteristic in bends where I've found WRX's understeering. Part of the fun is no doubt keeping your momentum as the car doesn't have power on tap like the MR2 did, though I don't think my times on my commute are any slower as you can really attack with confidence in the Impreza when the MR2 needed care and balance through tricky corners and roundabouts before you could get on WOT again. It's also a lovely place to sit with nice seats and a lovely burble off the exhaust my dad had fitted on it (a custom made item, need to find out where it's from).

I'm not sure the seats are the standard GX seats either, though I have seen them in other cars of the same year with the same interior so maybe they were standard for that year. They're very comfy though, and have an interesting 'ribbed' material useful for keeping you planted. See the iamge below from another GX to see what I mean, as my car has the same interior albeit I have my Apline stereo fitted in place of the Subaru stereo.



I'll take a few more photos in a location more glamorous than the work car park in days to come, in anticipation of a readers ride thread. Overall, I am really enjoying this car and it has reaffirmed my love for Subaru.

Very nice car indeed! Shame you don't see many of the STi hatches of that era around. I can still remember the first one I saw, would have been winter of 2009 or so when I spied a white one on Stowell Street in the Newcastle city centre.

The only blue one I know of/see regularly in the Newcastle area belongs to a bloke who works for the same company as me, though I can't say I know him personally I am told he likes his performance cars and has had a few nice cars over the past years, the STi no exception. I keep hoping to see that car in use but every time I do see it it's parked in a car park at work!

Finally got round to putting up some pics of my Legacy 2.5 Sen. The car is bog standard apart from a wheel refurb & a Cosworth panel filter fitted. After getting it I found I did not instantly gel with the car, but now I love it & I love the fact you never see many on the road.

That's because they are in fact stillborn Saab 9-2s. The mechanical bits are still smile inducing, the bodyshell not so much so.

Tony,

I don't often post here, or many other fora for that matter, but I wanted to comment on your car. I had a few Imprezas years ago, one of which was a 2002 UK Prodrive Impreza Sti, much like yours of that era. I saw on Scoobynet (in its heyday...) that you had fitted the non Prodrive grille and that it really worked well with the 'bug eyes' and mono plane bumper of that pre blob-eye model. I copied you and was chuffed to bits with the improvement in appearance of the then slightly awkward appearance of the car (my car was black as opposed to your WR blue). I say 'then' as I think time has actually been more kind to the bug eye variant than to the blob and hawk, as they are referred to.

To the point. I actually like the 08-on hatch shape. The saloon, less so. Knowing that you know your Imprezas pretty damn well, why did you go for a saloon and a UK spec at that? Especially given that you have sampled and owned JDM variants, I really wanted to know what made you go for the 340R. This is not meant as a critique or a pasting, but given that you could clearly have afforded a Litchfield T20 etc. Why not?

I think they look pretty good, but the majority are not with me on this. I like the squat and aggressive look they have - I don't like the fact that when I see a hatch Impreza, 80% of the time it's a bog spec diesel!

The fact there are loads of diesel hatches, and far fewer STIs about doesn't help. If people saw the pre-hatch STI saloon they thought rally car. If they see a hatch now, they think I bet it's a diesel rep car.

Excuse the alloys, I have a spare set, just got to juggle tyres, refurbish a set, and suspension is going on next week I hope!
