Noise From Cam/Timing Belt Casing

Just come back from a fantastic track day in the Scooby (2002 WRX Impreza).
Couple of days later started engine and there was a sharp squeaking noise come from the engine and then a small puff of smoke from the right hand side of the cam belt casing. The engine ran fine after this point.
My only though is that one of the tensioning rollers must be seized.
I will start strip down today and see what I can find.
Just wondered if anyone else had seen the same thing?
