After a good number of years away from scooby ownership I may well soon get the chance to return to the fold.

If I get the job I am after I will have zero commute and be able to ditch my dirty derv Octavia Vrs Limited Edition for something a bit more fun.

Only cert is that it will have to be a wagon as I need the space for carrying around all my kite buggy gear.

So here's my Q's

What year did Subaru stop doing the STI Wagon ? That includes JDM stuff.
Have they done any decent Special edition Wagons recently ?

I think the last of the STi wagons were from 2002 and were JDM.

Subaru did a GB270 wagon in 2007 for the UK market which was a WRX with PPP, prodrive suspension, quickshift etc. Very rare as only 100 wagons made

Last STi wagon was a Bugeye. Rare as rocking horse droppings and there are very few in the UK. If you do find one you will have to pay a premium but well worth it.

Totally agree mate.

I had a Saloon WR Blue WRX back in 2004. Really loved it back then, however just bought a Red Wagon 55 plate with 38k on the clock. Absolute fantastic car to drive, i am also surprised by how loose the engine is, as my previous was low miles, so still very tight. I forgot how capable these cars are, even in standard WRX Guise. Grip levels are huge, and it does compliment you as a more capable driver, lol, but if my circumstances remain the same, its a car i will have for a good while to come.
Only downside as we know, the Fuel gauge!! lol, but worth it for the smiles.

A few inexpensive mods and a remap will see you reap some worthwhile bhp/torque, and should also help a bit with the mpg's.

When in doubt......REMAP!!! biggrin

I had a 95 MY saloon for 7 years that I tweaked and loved and my old man had a 2000 MY Wagon.

The only reason I need the wagon as I need the boot space for all my Sports gear. Might look at the Forester as you can get the JDM STI but I think a wagon looks a bit better.

Any way I wont be lookign until my possible new job is sorted as at the minute the fuel bills would kill me !!! Once I have zero commute then its a whole new ball game :-)

Remapped my Saloon many years ago, full system from Turbo Back. However i do not know if i wanna go down that route again.
I never looked at my MPG last time when i had the remap, how much difference does it make to fuel consumption if remapped to about 265-280. Don't want anything loud again either, as its an everyday car.

Stick to something like a Miltek or Hayward & Scott OEM diameter stainless steel exhaust system. They make the burble sound really sweet and they aren't too loud either. Well made high quality systems. Chuck in a decent aftermarket flat panel air filter from K&N or Green Panel, then remap, and you're on your way.

The jump in horsepower is pretty reasonable but the jump in Torque is even better. You can make over 300lbft torque and that's where your economy comes in. More torque means less pedal travel for the same effect. Less pedal means you're using less fuel which means more mpg.

Job done!!

Dont forget the Gen III BH5 Legacy GT spec B. 2.0 twin turbo and the Gen IV BP5 Legacy GT/GT spec B- both with 2.0lt single turbo twinscroll goodness.

all 280 bhp and nicely kitted with bilstien suspension. Very much an understated car. The Gen IV looks like a diesel wagon.

Mine's up for sale sadly but sure as hell gonna miss it (sadly its the wife's car so can't argue either!). frown

Great cars - you'll really like it if you do buy one. Like another poster said - only issue is fuel gauge but as long as you aren't commuting 30 miles every day rather have fun than drive a boring boxmobile.

I'm about to resurrect my bugeye wagon. biggrin

It's been on sorn for the last year and i've not got around to stripping yet it for a more interesting role in life but now i've got a specific job for it so i'll dust off the cobwebs, slap an MOT and some tax on it, fix a couple of annoying issues with it and away we go!!

I'm quite looking forward to it bounce
