I knew these were the black sheep of the Hawkeye STIs but there is so much value in them. I've seen one today with a shade under 98k on the clock for a completely insane price. My old 50k Hawkeye STI never missed a beat and with full history this Spec-D may well be worth having a look at.

Surely there is something a miss here...?

I have a real soft spot for these and they do always seem really cheap, a whole lot of car for the money!

If like me these days you only cover 4-5k a year then it will go on and on and on!!

If that's a genuine car and is as good as it looks in the pics that's crazy stupid cheap! Literally, no other hawkeye STI has been anything like as low as that.

In fact, something must be amiss, it would be worth more in parts (6 speed gearbox, engine, wheels/tyres, suspension, brembo brakes etc)

Looks like they don't know what they've got and just valued it as a Hawkeye Sti with eye watering road tax...

IMO, Spec-D's have always been cheaper. Also, 98K miles? I know the usual rhetoric about how they last forever, but in many potential buyers eyes that engine is nearing the end of its life.

My 2005 STi with 44K miles sold for 8K earlier this year. So I would say that Spec-D is not wildly off pace, maybe a grand or so, but not much more...

Maybe the engine has a problem and that's the reason they are selling so cheap. If so it could be ripe for a rebuild yum

What's the book price? Probably a straight through sale with a small profit, coupled with a dealer that doesn't really want this car.

When I was looking to swap my STi I tried a few dealers who happened to have what I wanted, and none were interested saying that they are a pain to shift.

They are generally 15% cheaper than regular STIs despite having more kit. I'd say offering £4500 would secure that car with a warranty of some sorts but as above, buying it and sorting the headgaskets and pistons will essentially future proof the car for another 100k.

It doesn't sound like a bad investment does it??!!

'Investment' ? Sounds like a very bad one to me being a car wink

As I said, I don't think this is miles off price. Fold in an engine rebuild and what have you spent? 7-8K? More than the market price for a lower mileage car. Sure, you have a nice rebuilt engine, but that won't mean a lot when selling it on.

I was waiting for someone to pick me up on the word "investment".

Wrong choice of words perhaps but it doesn't seem a bad idea. 7-8k is a monster rebuild, 450bhp+ with forged internals. You could spend a lot less and get a good long term car.

Yeah, I think "investment" and "Subaru" are mutually exclusive terms really.
"Liability" maybe.

If I had 5k handy I'd get it, get a warranty and drive it until it exploded. So much car for the money and besides, 100k on a 07 car is all motorways so it's had an easy life id say.

To be fair, thats a good point about motorways.
