engine re builder Herts

5k by the time i'm done , doing a centre silencer delete more for noise but small cracks in the silencers as no flexi joint in the exhaust , arp bolts cosi gaskets oil pump forged pistons updated crank bearings standard oil cooler plus all the other standard bits , lucky i said a full rebuild or i would have been paying again for a bottom end rebuild not long after due to bearing wear and tear , so as i have always said on a 2.5 do bottom end rebuild too , slight score on crank but it was ok
yes not cheap , the cost of subaru parts has gone up , the exchange rate being part of it , normally with a forged lump you get a bit of extra noise but there's none of that it sounds like a standard engine , compression is up , i'm hoping it does not need a remap and has no det , but they will check that on the oil change again , i don't what more power it has enough i just want reliability , it's a 1000 mile run in with an oil change at the end of that , under 4 k revs for first 500 miles then up to 5 k for next 500 miles from memory , the restrictor pill pipe is disconnected to keep boost down till it's run in but it feels punchier ? already

I've just finished running in my Impreza with a similar build and mine felt stronger under the 4k rpm limit too.I'd advise having the remap. My car's rebuild was like-for-like (was previously forged) but performs very differently. It produces similar power but 30lb/ft more, with both curves climbing 500rpm earlier in the rev-range than before. Doesn't sound much, but the car is way nicer to drive and has gone some way to justifying the cost of the build.
If Len mapped it previously, it should just be a 'tweak' rather than a 'full' remap? Either way, I'd still invest in a full remap for piece of mind if I was you.
Hi Miner49er , did yours have to be mapped for power , or was it running ok det fuel timing etc , if it has to be done as it's not right i would do it , the map was done by i don't know who as i bought it like that , i could do with out extra cost if i can , and i did not know that Len mapped cars , my previous fsti after a rebuild was much better and was never re mapped but not all maps will be the same , any thoughts ?
Hi, no, on stripping my engine down and subsequently inspecting components, it was evident that it had been running OK. Mine was a like-for-like build, so wasn't expecting any performance improvement.
I'd rather listen to your builder's opinion than someone off the internet, but I'm very surprised a remap isn't required as a result of all the new hardware. Regardless of that, it also surprises me that any builder would be happy giving you a warranty for his work without new mapping.
To reiterate though, I'm certainly no expert and that's what Len is... he has a decent reputation for good reason. Personally though, I'm much happier knowing my engine is now running at its optimum with the minimum risk of future damage.
