Just to point this out to you, check your WRX has been recalled for the lower arms especially.

Mine also had a recall done last week for a replacement passenger side airbag inflatorhttp://www.theaa.com/allaboutcars/recalls/recalls....

How long did you wait for the airbag recall? I had mine booked into the Subaru dealer in Knutsford and they said it would be around 2-3 weeks as the parts were in short supply. After 3 weeks, they called me and said they could no longer do Subaru warranty work and I needed to go elsewhere. Gave me the details of a dealer in Stoke. Now booked in there is an expected 3-4 week wait. Considering they tell you not to use the front passenger seat until the work is done, this seems like an excessive wait (notwithstanding the first dealer added to the delay).
In other news, I managed 30mpg from my last tank! Overall mpg in my ownership is just shy of 27.

My wife has decided that her current WRX wagon (56 plate) is time for a change so she's decided to get rid of it (immaculate and well looked after) so I don't know why.
So we've currently got her existing one and her replacement on the driveway. You'll be glad to hear that it's a WRX S. I think she likes Subaru.

I've always liked the wagons, I've been considering a legacy estate and to a lesser extent a non-turbo wagon as a family and commuter hack. I know the mpg is still pretty bad for the non-turbo boxers but I'm not sure I'm ready to go full boring just yet.
My Dad had an old SOHC 2.0 N/A wagon and the fuel consumption was worse than my WRX! However, it was the sort of motor that I'm sure would still be rocking around at 500,000 miles.I've just gone from the WRX wagon to a Legacy turbo and it's no worse on fuel. Only downside is being completely tied to V-Power.
Boot space on the legacy dwarfs the Impreza - which is a roomy hatchback rather than a full blown estate.
I think for a family wagon the legacy makes more sense for my needs, I could go more sensible with an accord or avensis tourer but i fancy something a bit different. It is a big load space in the legacy which would comfortably take all the baby stuff and enough for a weekend away, I can take the petrol costs for something that will be reliable in na. I don't think I would be 100% confident in a turbo at the sort of price point I would be looking at.
I've registered on UK legacy to get some more information, hopefully I'll be able to make a properly informed decision when it's time to get something new. I'll probably have more of an idea of what miles I'll be doing once my wife gets a new car, mine does all the family runs at the moment as her Fiat 500 isn't really capable, It also means during the week I have to drive it to work, it really is a slow, creaking, joyless experience in 1.2 form.
It's the wifes car so the reports I've had so far are ' oo, it's a lot sportier.'
Bear in mind she drives it like a Granny and uses it as a little run about, it'll be like her old WRX; never driven anywhere near what it's capable of.
From the short drive I've had in it; definitely nippier, better handling on the road and does seem more planted. Got a nicer note to the exhaust although not too intrusive.

My wagon 'I think' decided to throw a power steering pump last night. Stiff steering at start up over the last week or so ended up with a screech and heavy steering/no alternator. Classic belt snapping symptom but got home using some arm muscles for a change. Belt (only a few months old) indeed snapped in half. No fluid leaks and levels fine. A bit of research suggests an expensive part but there is a re-build option I'm told. Investigations begin!
