I have a 2015 WRX STI coming out of warranty soon. Need it to sound like my previous STI's in the past and also looking for a little individualism as well. Any thoughts and experiences would be greatly appreciated. many thanks.

Don't have anything to add on the mods front, but interested to hear your thoughts on the standard car.

Don't think many in the UK have done much yet as the cars are only now coming out of warranty. Trawling the US forums probably will yield the most info.

Easiest thing is a turbo back exhaust, intake and remap.

However you'll run into fuelling issues quicker on this car so a set of 650cc+ injectors and fuel pump wouldn't go a miss.

Remember this is the 2.5 of doom though, so don't push your luck unless you want to accelerate the inevitable failure and rebuild.

Many thanks, for the reply scooby doo . Not really looking for more performance as think adequate for me but the stock exhaust sounds feeble !
Incidentaly i have just won an ebay bid on a scorpion rear silencer set from a 2014 model owner. Thats the first step for me to add to the driving experience.

Is the 2.5 motor really a problem. had 300+ from a 2005 STI without any concern in the past prodrive plus !

Look forward to a re education for this model.

Many say the 2.5 is still and issue and I won't argue with that to be honest. They're not a strong engine, Subaru should make them with forged pistons and decent head studs like Subarus of old!

If you're just getting an exhaust for sound then anything after the last cat will be absolutely fine. You'll get some power and noise without risking anything.

Holy thread resurrection Batman!!

I have a 2017 Sti, and was thinking similar as the OP, would love a little more rumble. Is a cat back possible on these without a remap?? I know the scoobs are meant to be fickle, esp sensors etc, but thought maybe post cat would be ok?

I know some places do an axle back exhaust which is fine for them without remap, but i dont fancy getting an axle back now, then replacing it once im outta warranty.

Cheers

just about to fit predator brake upgrade as one of the discs has warped, new tyres as well but looking at replacing the Dunlops with the same as i find these tyres suit this vehicle. The Scorpion back boxes have made a difference to the sound but due to equal length mainfolds the burble has gone. about to start messing around with the mechanics and then the software etc .

Keep watching

yes an old thread , you can cat back with no issues , the burble will come back a lot more if you cat back v just a back box , the centre pipe silencer delete makes a lot of difference when you do cat back , hayward and scott do them there are two different lengths , don’t buy cheap as i did and regretted it i think they charge around 130£ you will normally need new springs and bolts where they join up and gaskets based on the set up being the same as earlier models

If anyone is interested I have a few bits for the 2015> STI that will be up for sale soon from my daily project. I'm going 450bhp on my fully forged lump shortly, so my current full H&S exhaust system will be up for sale, as will my decat downpipe, plus another H&S decat downpipe I have for the car fully DEI wrapped.

PM me if interested. I really should start a build thread. smile

Not actually sure it even let me email you. Think it only sent the email to me.

Seems this site won't let you PM people or email them then! Very odd.

How does the H&S exhaust compare to the Milltek?

Black Diamond predator brake upgrade front and rear upgrade fitted. Handbrake not holding on our steep drive so hoping a bedding in and adjustment issue only. New tyres fitted and gone for the new Dunlop RT2 as i think the Dunlops have suited the cars balance and speed. Had these tyres fitted to my second set of wheels powder coated in shadow chrome so a fresh look. old wheels will be refurbed and fitted with winter tyres towards end of year.
