Subaru Legacy tuned by STi, and its variants
Discussion
These Legacies are mighty fine cars. I have owned too many cars over the years but as an everyday car they can't be beaten. I currently run a 2004 WR Ltd auto wagon, with some Rays alloys and big back boxes (they don't drone but make a great noise). Sadly due to the London ULEZ expanding to the end of my road I need to sell it soon but it will be replaced with another 2009 (GTB)model. Even though they have the same engine (2.0 twin scroll) the 2004 model isn't compliant.
Having driven several versions of these cars it is worth going for a version with the Bilstein shocks as they are damped much better. The new car has been paid for in Japan and will be shipped at the end of the month so should arrive at the end of September. Photos attached.

Hello
I found the car on the auction site Goonet. It was advertised by a trader.
A friend has imported cars before and he had a contact in Japan who runs a business exporting JDM cars to the US. He agreed to have someone inspect the car and then arrange to have it transported to his facility (300km). He has arranged the shipping to the UK (due to leave at the end of month)
I have paid for the car, transport, agent's fee and shipping in advance and will have to have the car transported from Southampton when it arrives.
After paying for everything it probably isn't working out much cheaper that going to a reputable UK supplier such as Torque GT and they will also take the risk but its keeping me entertained during lockdown.
The contact in Japan normally sources cars themselves for export to the US so I'm not sure they would be willing to help someone they don't know but there are other companies that may be able to help.

Thanks for the reply. Might give TGT a call. The car I've seen was on Fuji Cars (via goo-net exchange).
The lad I got mine from runs this place. Might be worth having a chat.https://m.facebook.com/ImportCentralUK/

Do any of the informed folk here know what the performance and efficiency figures are for a factory Legacy Tuned by STi? I've searched but can't seem to find anything concrete...
280bhp for the manual, 260bhp for the auto. However, the auto responds better to a remap. 60/40 rear bias torque split on the auto and with the torque converter, it multiplies engine torque upto 2.2 times until clutch lock up. I'll be getting an auto one once I find one in the right spec.

That's great thank you - Do you happen to know 0-60 and top speed? Pretty irrelevant I know but be handy to know. I'll be getting an auto one once I find one in the right spec.
Bit more info here - https://www.sti.jp/en/completecar/heritage/cardeta...
0-60 will be low 5 second mark. Top speed depends on whether the limiter is still in place or not. Will be good for 150mph plus de-limited.

In this thread, towards the bottom of page three...

Road test is the 2.0STi but Aus got the 2.0STi originally and then in 2007 (I think) the 2.5STi with the same power (200kW)
Would still like one, esp for the Enkei wheels.
Summary of straight line accel is 0-100kmh in 6.2s, 0-400m in 14.5s @ 160kmh, top speed around 245kmh (152mph), though there are other tests that show swifter results. For comparison, the non-STi 2.0T which I had was listed as 0-100kmh in 6.9s with 180kW, and the non-STi 2.5 I've currently got is listed as 0-100kmh in 6.3s with 195kW. Again, the latter has been proven to be swifter...
But these cars aren't really about straight line dashes...
