So, going back to this thread...

- Am I right in saying there is only one version of the Tuned by STi Legacy 2006+ [not including the S402]?

- If so, does this have a 2 or 2.5?

- How much do you reckon it would cost to get a mint auto [or maybe manual] estate over here now a days?!

Ta smile

Hi Guys

Enjoyed reading this thread. As a reference point on models I use goonet, it has each model type by year in the specifications tab.
I think the post 2006 legacy wagons has the s402 on top, then the ‘tuned By STI’ either auto or manual as next best. I live in Tokyo fortunately so these around a lot and also check local market prices. I think the S402 will lose money if you bring them to the U.K. , certain models are worth more here than elsewhere, and the die hard Subaru fans have made the S402 very pricey here. I might be getting an auto low mileage tuned by STI wagon today, will post if I do.

Bug4Life the hottest Legacy`s have the 2.0. The tunes by STI and S402 are in that category.
They do do the 2.5 GT which has the 2.5 turbo, but I have heard that the 2.0 is a better engine.

I have been looking at the hatchback WRX STi`s too. The automatic models use the 2.5 and the manual the 2.0. A bit weird. The autos are considerably cheaper and although I know the manuals are the purists choice, my wife really prefers autos and I want to use it as a daily driver.

Even the good hatchbacks with manual and say 70k KM on the clock, can be bought for under 15k GBP here. I think these are great value and one of the few cars which I would be confident about with future prices. Especially the spec C models. I have three kids though, so Legacy is where I will end up no doubt.

Sorry, dont mean to spam you guys!

There is a hot 2.5 model, on the last iteration. it is the LEGACY TOURING WAGON 2.5GT TS

So its the same turbo engine with 285ps but with STI handling parts https://www.evo.co.uk/subaru/legacy/6950/subaru-le...

The four for-sale I can find are up for 12k -15k GBP over here in Japan, but all of these are autos.

yesterday I bid on a low mileage 2007 Legacy Touring Wagon, Tuned by STI, auto. It was graded as a 4.5, but after having a guy look around the thing we concluded it was closer to a 4. The interior was perfect but the tailgate had somehow gone all matt and faded. There were a few nicks around the car too.
It sold for 9k GBP. I think this is an incredible amount for an auto wagon over 10 years old. It seems that maybe we have seen the end of the cheaper Legacy STI /Hot wagons, even the autos.
Mind you if it was bought blind by an overseas bidder, then maybe that counts for the higher price as a 4.5 32k km on the clock, would seem and attractive private purchase.

The S402 has the 2.5 doesn't it?

Interesting to hear that particular car sold for £9k - doesn't sound to bad to me, comparing it against my FSTi.

How rare is a facelift TBSTi wagon with low miles and a grade 4/4.5?

You are right BUG the S402 is a 2.5. Actually I hadn`t realised before looking at this forum that the EJ 2.5 engine had such a bad reputation, makes me think the Tuned by STI may be the model to go for.

This week two came up for auction, one sold (I will send you a PM with the detailed images) and the other went unsold and it was an 88k km Auto gray model at 4.5, I will see if i can get where the bid went to, but it might come up again next week.

I hadnt been looking for a few months, so this the only data I can give you an opinion on.

Collected our STi S402 a couple of weeks ago from TorqueGT. An absolutely sublime car to drive, feels light, nimble and dynamically very sharp with a super tight 6 speed manual STi gearbox. A complete antidote to two M5's that came before it and exactly the kind of fun drive I was looking for now that Snowdonia is our weekend playground. It is remarkable how dulled down cars have become in just a decade, I don't know what is made in 2018 that could replace this.
Any updates?

Torque GT have my Forester STI in the country now - did you got with any additional cavity sealing? Or just the Dinitrol underseal they offer 'FOC'?

Not much to update really. The car is fantastic but rarely driven, it does less than 100 miles a month so I am contemplating selling it at some point because it is just a waste. I ride a bike everywhere and as the S402 is a second car I rarely drive it.

TorqueGT gave the underbody the full monty at my request. Pressure cleaned, hand detailed and then several applications of Dinitrol and something else I don't recall. It will be fine for many years.

Cheers

Just in process of buying a 2007 Legacy wagon tuned by STi... so far everything is going well, just waiting for DVLA.
https://www.torque-gt.co.uk/subaru-legacy-sti-0804...

I'm considering upgrading turbo, exhaust system and intercooler... is there anything I need to be aware of?

Cheers

Ah, so you've bought this one! Very nice, I am jealous, as I think one of these would be a good alternative to my Forester STi.

Did you get Torque GT to source this car for you or did you just buy it as it was listed on their site, if you don't mind me asking?

@Legacywr - I Reckon I can get enough power for it to entertain me when needed... I also have a NA 99 Impreza sport that will be turned into race/rally cross car for abusing!
Been doing my research and I can get a stage3 grimm speed kit (https://www.tarmacsportz.co.uk/grimmspeed-subaru-legacy-gt-05-09-mt-only-stage-3-power-package.html) that pretty much bolts on, then add a new turbo and a Cobb map.... first issue is blow off valve and new exhaust just because I love the scooby noise! Schoolboy stuff, but still funny when you drive through the middle class high street and give it a cheeky rev!

@Bug4life - I've been watching their site for ages and trying to decide on either an Impreza wagon... the GB270 was my first idea... a forester or this.
But kept seeing this and its a bit more unassuming! Especially for the fuzz!
I did want a manual, but got bored waiting so just went for it! It still has flappy paddle when needed but I imagine this will be better for touring!
I still haven't driven it yet, but watching youtube and reading reviews, it seems to be a solid choice!

I'm not so sure the burbble is attainable with the equal length headers?

It looks like it has an aftermarket exhaust already?

It looks like the standard TBSTi exhaust tbh. They do have a quad outlet. On the link above for the stage 3 upgrade, that shows for manual transmission only. But it does look like a nice car. My favourite colour too.

Good spot MDMA...lol
I did want the Bright blue... or basically this car! https://www.torque-gt.co.uk/subaru-legacy-sti.html
But sold before I could gather funds... But now do appreciate the dark grey more and fits wth being more of a sleeper wagon!
I imagine the down pipe might not fit... but intercooler upgrade and induction kit might be sufficient!
The Current exhaust is stock... but an upgrade to this should have an impact!

A fellow recently sent me this link with some great photos of my 402 that I didn't know existed. Torque GT took these pics before I collected it.
