Since I have finally turned 21 I think it's time to finally get a DC5, after having 2 VXR's. I just have a few questions about them. I'm looking to get a pre-facelift in CW with under about 75k miles.

•What are common problems to look for on them?
•Would I best importing one? A lot of the ones in the UK seem to be high miles, or run down looking.
•If I do import one, any recommendations for comapnies to use? I've heard good things about Torque GT.
• Insurance company wise, who should I look at? I've tried Sky insurance and they gave me a decent quote, but I'm not sure about who else I should use.
•What are they like as a track car? It's just going to be a weekend kind of car for me, so I'd like to be using it on track quote a bit.

Cheers guys!

Not that many issues to worry about, they're pretty bomb proof. As with all hondas, oil changes, regular maintenance etc. All the normal stuff.

There are probably some decent low mileage cars in the U.K., but finding exactly what you're after can be hard, importing one gives you maybe a bit more choice.

I've heard good things about TGT over the years and I'd probably go with them if I was to do it myself.

I have my modified EP3 insured with Flux, I'm pretty happy with them so you could give them a call.

The DC5 is a good choice for daily drive/weekend track car, a decent set of tyres and some uprated pads and you'll be able to go straight on the track with it.

Good luck!

Rust is the main thing, and make sure vtec engages properly, and the gearbox doesn't crunch. have a look for evidence of water in the spare wheel well, means the rear light seals need changing (not a deal breaker but worth noting).

Mechanically it's a honda so they're fairly solid.

There are plenty of very well cared for cars in the UK, so don't feel duty bound to import one. Bought my milano red prefacelift from somerset about 9 months ago with 64k on the clock.

Prices are a bit all over the place at the moment, your best chance of a good price and nice example is to buy one of the integra type R forum owners cars, check out the FB group, there's some crackers for sale at the moment. With the cost of importing at the moment you are looking at £9-10k for a fresh import, whereas a bit of shopping around the cars already in the UK you could probably get the spec you're after for high 7s/low 8s.

Greenlight are worth a look, although you may be too young at 21 to insure one with them.

Great track car out of the box. As a daily they are a fairly harsh ride compared to an EP3.

oh and don't worry too much about mileage on these at all...there are plenty running fantastically well past 100k...it's a honda afterall.

Designforlife sums it up nicely in the above post.

My car had water in the wheel well, but crucially wasn't rusted. (You should see the state of some of them). It doesn't take long to sort out with a bit of sealant round the light gaskets to fix.
