or get a jdm sti forester , 27 mpg with out trying 35 on a long run , tax is around 245 £ pa even on an 07 car , insurance very reasonable , plus a quick car when you want it to be
Wouldnt last 5 minutes on our Cornish lanes.
Why ?

I'm on exmoor and foresters seem to be the car of choice ( possibly because there's a dealership here )

The sti version still has loads of ground clearance .
Exmoor is for pussies. If we get a forester it'll be the petrol autobox as it can tow more
Whenever I visit winter locked places like Canada or Iceland, I see a higher proportion of Foresters. The STI is a rare beast, but I have never seen one on one of those trips.

I didn't realize Cornwall is the only county that has cowst on the roads .

Elevation the most you've got is brown Willy on bodmin.

Good luck with the car search .
