Have a look at the Chassis Plate under bonnet for the Model Code (JDM) would be a VIN if UK Car wink

example the letters and number mean some thing like below

GC8F48D GC= Saloon 8= Turbo F=1999 4= 4door 8= WRX D 5 speed. so a 1999 WRX V5 4 door

GF8F58D GF= Wagon 8= Turbo F=1999 5= 5door 8= WRX D 5 speed. So a 1999 WRX V5 5 door

The list below may have a few copy n paste errors and C & D years are the same, 1st and 2nd half year, but hopefully give you rough an Idea wink

That will be a WRX NB

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subaru_Impreza_WRX#Re...

August 2000 brings the 2001MY WRX NB sedan. It has an EJ205 with AVCS coupled with an MHI TD04L turbocharger. The engine produces 250 PS (184 kW) at 6000 rpm with 34 kg·m (333 N·m) at 3600 rpm. The wheels are 16-inch (410 mm) in diameter. The car uses 2 pot/1 pot front and rear brakes. The front brake rotors are ventilated while the rear are solid disks. It has a torsen rear LSD and a 4.44 final drive ratio. The transmission has close-ratio gears unique to Subaru of Japan at that point in time. The car has a curb weight of 1,340 kg (2,954 lb).

I would have thought it would have 4pot brakes on that year?

A uk spec of that year would have 4pots.

True but I don't think JDM cars got them until 2002. I've also seen a few USA bugeyes with 2 pots as well.

The classics STI's certainly got 4pots a year earlier on the JDM's (MY98) than the EDM's (MY99).

You can use  this Subaru decoder to know what model you have. In your case, the model from decoding will be shown as "WRX" (if it's really a WRX)  https://vinsonar.com/subaru/wrx/vin-jf1va1n69k8826..., while regular Imprezas will be displayed as "Impreza": https://vinsonar.com/subaru/impreza/vin-jf1gpad63d...
