They managed to recover one from the last launch so it looks like he's telling the truth. Why would he lie anyway.

At the point the shrouds are jettisoned, the rocket is still travelling at well below orbital velocity - so the shrouds should not experience too much uin the way of re-entry heat. Remember, re-entry heating is determined by velocity more than altitude.

Great coverage. Not being able to show the deployment of the classified payload allowed them to devote all their camera resources to show the 1st stage re-entry and landing.

The amount of thrusting needed to keep the fall back stable and precise was quite dramatic.

Was anyone else thinking where's the legs there as it approached the pad??
Hopefully some more 4k video will be released of this decent event both awe inspiring and a little bit scary seeing that blunt nozzle filled end coming rigjt at ya!!
