More inspiration...

Von Braun wrote this book in 1948.

Chapter 24: "How Mars is Governed":

"The Martian government was directed by ten men, the leader of whom was elected by universal suffrage for five years and entitled "Elon." Two houses of Parliament enacted the laws to be administered by the Elon and his cabinet."

There is something "not quite right" to me about the whole concept of the BFR.

I hope I'm wrong.

I don’t think all of the 60s style futuristic space type drawing help with it trying to look feasible

By the 60s styling like that was old hat. It's actually more of what people thought spaceships might look like in the 1940s and early 1950s (legacy of the V2).

We shall see if this is what the final thing will look like. I have my doubts.

They're supposed to be pretty accurate, although they forgot to add the grid fins to the first stage in the rendering above.

I expect it'll look more black and white than in these pictures, which always looks good on rockets. It's getting more Shuttle like though.

Ironic considering.....

So they have someone signed up for a moon loop trip on bfr. A new render of the spaceship and a press conference in 3 days.

Any one on here going on a fun holiday?

Hmmm copying designs has always been an issue with spaceships https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0177789/videoplayer/v...

Just a 3d rendering of the BFR on my facebook feed (I think it was the Spacex page I follow), it appears that BFR also has some pretty substantial canard wings at the front too.

The above is the best image I could with a quick google, the rendering I saw was a spinning gif of the above.

Flying a bunch of pretentious tts around the moon isn't my idea of inspiring, but I suppose you pays your money and you takes your choice.

It strongly reminds me of the Golgafrincham Ark Fleet Ship B from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. wink

Hopefully they'll send some of those dick head "journalists" from the press conference too.

I see no problem with sending non pilot/scientist/engineer individuals into space - especially if they are paying for their own tickets.

Air travel would be a bit restricted if you only let Charles Lindbergh types fly. At some point it needs to start opening up.

That May focus Musk’s mind if he is getting bored, but I also wonder if he may be trying to get himself barred or sacked from the job as he can’t exactly resign his post if it’s getting a bit much ( and many a CEO only stays for a time before they exit and get on with something else so I’m not being critical)

why? It’s a pointless egotistical Joy ride wooo hooo I’ve circled the moon! I agree with the others if we are going to burn the earths recourses there should be a real and benifical (to the world) reason for doing so.
