The crew is made up of the Commander plus a film director and an actress - so the Russians, yet again, try to get a "first" ahead of any of the proposed Hollywood funded space flights that have been mooted -

Just seen the photo now they are all aboard. The actress is wearing a red shirt. I fear this may not end well for her.

NASA's Lucy mission is due to launch on Saturday 16th. This spacecraft will visit several of the Trojan asteroids, which share Jupiter's orbit around the Sun.

It will be launched on an ULA Atlas V 401 rocket at 10.34 am UK time from SLC 41 at Cape Canaveral. The same booster that was supposed to launch the Starliner capsule recently.

OneWeb launch now...

Even though I don't understand most of what Russian commentary is saying...I much prefer it to the hyperactive whooping and cheering you get with US commentators!

American launches commentary varies depending on who is providing the commentary. SpaceX and Blue Origin then to be rather over-enthusiastic. NASA, and DoD missions tend to be a bit more muted. The commentaries I dislike most are those provided by ESA. They appear to be scripted by somebody who previously worked on Teletubbies.

Launch window: 0934-1049 GMT (5:34-6:49 a.m. EDT)

Launch site: SLC-41, Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida

A United Launch Alliance Atlas 5 rocket will launch NASA’s Lucy spacecraft. Built by Lockheed Martin and led by the Southwest Research Institute, Lucy will fly by seven Trojan asteroids, a unique family of asteroids that orbit the sun in front of and behind Jupiter. The rocket will fly in the 401 vehicle configuration with a four-meter fairing, no solid rocket boosters, and a single-engine Centaur upper stage.

Wow, Ariannes don't launch much these days do they?. Only one Arianne V so far this year, with 2 more scheduled.

Too expensive and don't have the level of "national security" launches that ULA has to support them.
