Went to bed in the end. I had a feeling it wasn't going to go.

Nope - unlike western launch sites China launches over land rather than over the sea so, like launches from Baikonur, discarded stages come down on land

It's not the first time that's happened. It's a commie country, so they really don't care.

Well a nice Delta IV launch at last.

I like how it scorches its own orange insulation black at launch.

You can see why they say they've been launching toasty rockets long before SpaceX doing it was a thing.

There's an app called "Space Launch Schedule", using that app you can put launch reminders into your calendar.
Interestingly the app has the F9H launch scheduled for 25th Jan, not sure where they've got that from.

The weather is looking good and has improved to a 90% GO!

These 411 configurations look a little goofy as they have to gimble the main engine to counter the single solid booster.

It looks like it's crabbing upwards.

From Reddit's ULA section:

[–]glasgrisen

"The 411 is such an odd looking rocket. Its so Kerbal. Just strap a booster and let it go. I love it"

[–]ToryBrunoPresident & CEO of ULA

"Yup"

biggrin

He's actually pretty active on Reddit and Twitter to his credit. Answers questions sent to him too.
