I see that they are now using the Artemis tag for the various missions - which is good because SLS is so uninspiring. Will it take until Artemis 7 before the first manned flight?

SLS was never about missions anyhow, afik the only real thing they had to launch was a deep exploration sat thats shifted to a FH I think now?

Its good they now have an actual mission even if its unrealistic.

37 launches only a handful will be SLS. afik only some of the SLS missions will be manned, I assume all bar the first will be.

At least it's becoming a defined project with a goal.

Guy hired to help run NASA's Moon programme has quit -

https://www.newsweek.com/top-nasa-official-2024-mo...

It seems like every new president that's come along, whether Republican or Democrat, wants to cancel their predecessor's space vision, and roll out something that will be "their own" and deny the guy before them in the Oval Office a space legacy. And Congress care more about what congressional district is going to get a share of the funding pie than whether or not NASA actually go anywhere.

The Orion capsule is mounted atop a modified Minotaur first stage booster (which is based on the Peacekeeper ICBM)

This is at pad 46 at Cape Canaveral. The 4 hour launch windows starts at 7:00am EDT (midday UK time). Sunrise is at 6.30am local.

Robert Zubrin's view of NASA's moon landing plans. He is definitely not a fan of the Lunar Gateway nor SLS biggrin

Probably because they thought it would be 10 years late.

Short and dramatic, but successful it seems.
