I thought it was hilarious that, in order to avoid the crap weather they invariably have when presenting from Jodrell they all go off to Australia, only to have crap weather....

Gradually catching up as I couldn't watch it last week.

Saw the first episode last night. It did look a bit windy.

I have to agree compared to past years it seemed poor by comparison, also I was under the impression it was in Australia for solar eclipse reasons yet nothing mentioned whatsoever. Seems like a bad decision to me tbh, in the past at Jodrel Bank with the half hour after show after the main subjects was much more entertaining

Having seen two of the programmes so far the whole thing seems a lot flatter and less inclusive than in previous years.

Also, the content does seem extremely basic. Yes, it's nice to see and hear discussion of the things that are visible in southern skies but there is an awful lot of waffle and lightweight stuff.

And the piece on spawning corals on the Barrier Reef was tenuous as far as astronomy and watching the skies is concerned - and has been covered adequately many times in inumerable wildlife and nature programmes.

I'll watch the third episode later but the show has lost its mojo a it and needs to get back on home soil.

I was keeping my powder dry on this subject for a number of reasons mostly because I would divert discussion from the actual program content.
Yes watched until I fell asleep absolutely nothing that gave it any "sparkle"..

Had to watch this on iplayer with the subtitles on. I can hardly understand a word the Irish fella says. Why is he even on TV?

I think the format was a bit tired. I wasn't that impressed with the Aussie one that was shown in 2017 on BBC - I thought it was a bit "thin" in content.

I think it needed a bit of a break and a re think. I hope it does come back.

There has been no "Spring Watch" this year either, I've noted.
