Hoping the weather stays clear for tonight’s Lunar Eclipse, patchy cloud here in north Dublin but we already have a beautiful full moon high in the eastern sky. Get your alarms set for 3:15 and hope the weather stays favorable. Next one isn’t for another 14 years, so this is well worth the early start.

Wifey will be fine, she bought me a telescope for Christmas so she can’t complain if I start using it. We might have to drive a little bit to the other side of a local hill to catch the end of the eclipse so she has fair warning.

I'm a fair weather astronomer - and also a "civilised hour" astronomer - sop 5.00 am is out for me..

Total lunar eclipses aren't that rare - but they are nice to see.

unlucky, all i need to do is not draw the bedroom curtains tonight for a view across miles of light free countryside.

We’ll have most of it from the front bed rooms, might have to drive a mile or so just to catch the end of it, be nice to see it all for a change. Flask is already warmed, ginger nuts at the ready.

Clouds have cleared away a bit and the eclipse looks to be visible

Little bit of cloud where I am, but still have good visibility, hope it clears up over the next hour or so.

Light has gone now, it's more dark dull brown than red, maybe a slight orange tinge at the bottom. Took some pictures with an old camera that thinks it's red ish.
I'm in Aberdeen

It has got a lighter orange now

Took some pics with my aging dslr, it fogged up pretty quick due to the cold.

Didn't use a tripod and was unsure of the best settings.

Taken a few minutes ago.

Clear skies off the coast of Argentina, but wobbly ship so slightly wobbly steadying!

Just went out for a drive and found some clear skies, great views. Wish I had a camera attachment for my telescope.

Camera attachment has to be my next purchase, though I’ve only had my telescope since Christmas.
Delighted to see the eclipse, sadly had too much cloud cover after 5am, but got to see the main event. Hopefully others had better luck with the weather. Next total eclipse isn’t for 14 years, I hope I see the next one.
