I had an MG Montego once. It was was a great car to drive - even as it disintegrated around me. I don’t think it would have coped well with conditions on Mars.

Dunno, rust would be less of an issue. Mind you petrol engines wouldn't be too useful in the martian atmosphere.

My dad had a MG Montego as a company car for a while. It was quite quick as I recall. I can still remember the number plate for some reason.

Meanwhile on Mars, the Perseverance rover is about to drop its protective belly pan, exposing the sampling equipment. As the bishop said to the actress.

The 33.9 million in my comment was a reference to how close Earth and Mars get at a minimum smile

Does that mean it will start doing drilling/sampling soon?

No - but it will probably mean it starts dripping oil and having some of its systems activate for no obvious reason smile

If they really were sending a "proper" Rover to Mars, they should have sent a Quick Fit outlet first - just to make sure there were spares for the things that fell off.

The Mars Rovers should be called Mars Toyotas.

Doesn't have the same ring though.

If it's Rings, surely it should be a Mars Audi?

I liked the part where the sump dropped off showing that there was no oil left in the motor. It knew to start adding lightness.

Joking aside, does the top face of the bellypan have any science on it? Mirror for example?

My vote would be for Subarus. They do make telescopes after all, and the name (Japanese for the Pleiades or Seven Sisters star nursery in the constellation Taurus) is very cosmological:

Why are they dropping that? Will they go back and retrieve it, or are we humans going to litter Mars too.
