It'd be a safer option for our future alien overlords to be.

I'm little bit of disapointted about how poorly these UFO's fights back. If this is their invasion capability i'm not worried at all. These are even more sttier than aliens in Signs-movie, and those bds did forget their rain coats...

What puzzles me is why the US govt is telling anyone about this. What’s to be gained from telling the public they have shot down some unidentified flying objects? Seems very odd.

They couldn't hide it. And in general they are more open with these kind of things nowdays. Everyone knows about those videos what they did release last year.

They certainly didn’t have to acknowledge it. And the release of classified videos of ‘UAPs’ was a puzzle too. Why do it? The pentagon doesn’t do anything without a strategic reason.

One thing is make it more mainstream. More normal. If there is something out there, people are more prepared to face the truth. It is a huge thing that they just said that they dont know what those things are, but people are not panicking etc. It is normal. Because those UAP videos were very real and they did get a lot of media time.

They could not hide those UAP's and maybe they didn't even want to. If those are all Chinese spythings, american people support Bidens more aggressive politics towards China. If they are aliens kind of st, then this is interesting. What they say? Tell the truth or hide it?

I noticed that when US general said, that he doesn't rule out extra terrestial things nobody laughed at him. Big difference compared to past.

Must agree with other comment. The US goes around the planet doing undercover mission with no explanation let alone admittance. Why publish these details? And why no video proof of what they were intercepting.

If it is little green men they aren't going to be very happy !

Biden wants to appear to take a tough stance against illegal aliens.

Aliens. With tech so in advanced of ours to travel unimaginable distances. Use balloon tech to spy on earthlings which are undone by wind.

Lets just take that onboard for a minute...

My theory is they're a cunning Russian attempt to bankrupt the US by making them fire 500,000 dollar missiles from 90k per hour fighters at 100 dollar lighter than air boxes in random shapes.

Ha! Does remind me of the Red Dwarf series and a particular scene where Rimmer shouts Aliens! (turns out it was a garbage pod) and Lister says, with you its always aliens, toilet rolls go missing, its aliens, etc. and Rimmer looks at him with a knowing look and says 'yes but where did those toilet rolls go'

To be fair, other than the Chinese Balloon they (US) haven't said the things shot down this weekend were balloons, they've said initially they don't know what they were.

As for going public, a lot of times when something is made public the information isn't being released for the public, it's being released for someone in a sneaky way of saying "don't worry, we know what you're doing". I remember many years ago an image was released from a ground penetrating radar satellite showing all the underground estuaries around the River Nile, where it meets the Med. That image wasn't released for the public it was released for the USSR to tell them that we (NATO) can now see where all their missile silos are.

When you say UAPs do you mean OAPs?

I still prefer UFOs where the F has gone from Flying to Floating.

Joking aside it does point out again it is just observations and where you are looking. Now any amateur balloon is not flying under the radar, literally.

https://www.foxnews.com/us/illinois-hobby-club-fea...

That would make sense, considering the number of people who launch a gopro on a helium balloon and amateur rocket clubs, that ballooning clubs in the USA would do something slightly less grand than a 200ft high Chinese balloon, then their car sized one got pinged.

I suggest they equip the next ballons with chaff or flares to negate the incoming AIM 9X Sidewinder

According to my tin foil hat wearing mate on FB this is all a pre cursor to a faked alien invasion. Stage 2 of some reset after covid apparently.

All sounds very credible.
