Id be leaning towards putting the standard battery in the boot for your use.
The relocation job can be made a lot simpler if you get a BMW battery cable from a breakers (I used an e36 one in my turbo astra). It'll be the correct gauge cable with the correct clamp/connections already fitted at the ends. My e36 one also had a bulkhead grommet half way along which meant I just had to cut the right size hole.
