Im looking to buy a fault code reader that can be used on my 2003 diesel mondeo that can also be used on other vehicles. i am aware of F super which works well with the mondeo but would rather buy one that i can use with different vehicles aswell.

After a bit of looking around the internet the MS509 seems good for the price or the D900 (both generic model names). Does anyone have any experience of either of them.

Thanks.

Spend a few extra quid and go for the EU702, it'll be worth it. I've owned both and the EU702 is a far superior piece of kit. I got on with it so well, I bought another when the old one failed! Things I like about it, Live data function (i.e. you can see live sensor data and monitor what is actually going on rather than just see a fault code), ability to save both codes and data meaning you can plug it in, get some info and go home and research it. The thing I like the most though is manufacturer specific codes. You can look at engine codes, ABS codes, A/T faults, reset instruments etc. IMO it's the best piece of kit you can buy without spending money on Launch or Snap-On gear. It's handy too, you can throw it in the glovebox and it's always there. If you're smart enough, you can get it for free. Plenty of 'mates' with broken cars. I had mine paid for inside a fortnight.

I'd also like to add, don't bother with the £30 Ebay code readers. Complete waste of time. You might get an engine fault code out of them but if your ABS light comes on, you're fked.

Im guessing the MS509 is an autel product?
If so they are very good products but there are a lot of clones around on ebay etc, i dont have the model you list but have two others and am very happy with them.
Make sure you try to buy from an official seller, cant say ive heard of the other one you list.
Have a look here.

The MS509 originally is a Autel product and as far as i can work out the ones that are for sale are indeed chinese copies so i might stay clear.

I got a bluetooth odb reader off ebay (forget which one) and use the torque pro app. Works just fine, error codes and more engine data than you can shake a stick at. All for £20 too.

I think any generic "OBD2" scanner will work, ive d/loaded the "Torque" app onto my android phone in readiness
