The Angle Grinder won!
I umm'ed and aah'ed for days, avoiding the decision by getting on with other jobs.
But in the end, 15 minutes was all it took and I was able to release the bolts with a modest tug of the breaker bar.
Replacement bolts (I will need 24 in total) sum up the Ferrari spares market:
Usual suspects £3.95 or £2.95 per bolt (+P&P +VAT)
A little work on the internet yielded 30 bolts for £24 delivered...
I know the specialists provide a fantastic service and keep these cars on the road. Whenever I can, I do try to deal with them but there is a limit
And £4.56 + VAT if you wanted to use the original type nuts I was glad I was sitting down when I saw the prices in the superformance link.I umm'ed and aah'ed for days, avoiding the decision by getting on with other jobs.

Me? I'll be buying a couple of dozen nyloc nuts - probably for the same price as a single 'original' nut.
I'm sure the specialists must give substantial trade discounts.
Spent the whole time reading this thread thinking those driveshaft bolts are standard Alfa, and reasonably current - 147/156/GT/166/GTV... just cut the heads off...
Yup, a 308 is going to be a difficult and expensive car to find bits for but I'd suggest you ask on the forums whether peeps recognise a part!
www.alfaowner.com/forum is a good place to start.
@PumaRacing,
"1) Hammer the hell out of them before you try using an allen key. That will usually distort the hex edges so you have to hammer the allen key in too but that's no big deal and actually helps the key to be a good tight fit."
I recognise your name and website from 15 (or so) years ago when I was running a ZX (205 gti lump) and the advice you gave out freely then is equalled by your current advice, thanks. Every day is a learning day.
Another way to remove rounded off allen bolts is to hammer an oversize 12 point spline drive into them.

The specialists are always back stops for me. The Fiat parts bins were utilised quite freely to build these cars - so my search for parts goes far & wide. Yup, a 308 is going to be a difficult and expensive car to find bits for but I'd suggest you ask on the forums whether peeps recognise a part!

I eventually got new bolts for 80 pence each via Ebay - there are a multitude of companies selling fasteners, it just takes time!

Switch gear is probably Lancia Delta/Prisma? I think this was the case for the testarossa and My Dad's Maser 4200 uses Alfa 166 bits and bobs...I eventually got new bolts for 80 pence each via Ebay - there are a multitude of companies selling fasteners, it just takes time!

The style of the interiors didn't really change that much until the mid-80's - so the Testarossa and 328 probably share a lot of parts. The 308's are a little old fashioned (and all the better for it, IMHO) - many of the interior parts/design are constant from the late 60's through to the early 80's.I've just refurbished the steering rack - which is shared with most BL cars from the 70's...
