I'm about to start working up in Holmes Chapel for 12 weeks beginning 18th Jan. I've had a look for some evening courses in welding or automotive engineering or similar and found a couple or welding courses but no availability. Does anyone know of anywhere nearby that might run an evening course in either thing? I've done some general servicing, some rewiring (albeit on a series landrover) and some other little general spannering but i'd love to improve. Alternatively, anyone nearby need an evening apprentice for a few weeks?

Cheers

Suffolk covers 1500 sq miles, you might need to narrow it down a bit.

It's still a step away, but:

If you get Andy Flatters, you won't meet a better metal worker.

Thanks for that. My brother went to myerscough and loved it. I'll have a look for Saturday courses closer to home as I'll be travelling back to Bury St. Edmunds Friday nights. The problem with working away all the time is short projects at even shorter notice really does prevent you from doing this sort of thing, so I thought I'd try an do it whilst I can.

I did a welding course at a local (to me) agricultural college, 1 evening a week for 10 weeks, it gave me a chance to try Arc, mig/mag and gas with a bit of plasma cutting.
Probably the best bit was access to all the equipment you wouldn't have at home and the chance to practice, practice, practice.

Agreed there, Andy taught me and he's great.
