So a 2.5 ton scissor lift, upwards of £1k
A 2.5 ton trolley jack (a decent one) £100

While I appreciate there is more work in the lift and materials, why so much more? Is it really 10 times the work? Do they really cost 10 times that to produce?

I can see they all are electrically operated, is there a market for a manual one? Could that bring the price down? I have been putting some serious thought into this, what say you mechanics/engineers of PH?

It is so expensive because it is powered by a F.off big hydraulic ram & because it is so much bigger than a jack & needs to lift a full car all in one go, it is a massive scale bigger than just a 2.5 tonne jack.

The manual ones are much cheaper.

You can get them cheaper than that too, but not a lot.

Materials, hydraulic rams, hydraulic power pack, pneumatic safety interlocks, lift a whole car safely...

So, yes they are worth the extra £900

I bought a mobile scissor lift this afternoon. smile

£1175 all in delivered.

I've got fed up with working on the cars having to jack up each side and rest it on axle stands and then crawl around underneath. This should lift them a meter up and make all the working so much easier... and it's a combined birthday/xmass pressie. smile

Thats a different thing though a two post lift, but that seems oddly reasonable!

I went for the Automotech one 7530. Mid rise & superb bit of kit!
It was around £1200 delivered when I bought mine tho. Seem to have increased a fair bit since then!

My set arrived today. smile Blimey it's a hefty bit of kit, weighs 400kg, took 3 of us to get it off the truck with a pallet lifter. Spent a couple of hours positioning and connecting it all together in the garage, dead easy even with the rather useless chinese developed instructions.

Pressed the button and it worked immediately, gotta admit I was impressed with everything really.

It is a bloody heavy chunk of iron work, you will not move it far by hand. I found a bit of wooden planking helped as a lever under each end to move it a few inches at a time to get the position spot on.

First job for the morning is to see if I can get my boy's Corsa onto it straight, or whehter I'll need to find some planks as the clearance required is at least 6", or 8" if you leave the shortest pads in place.

I'm fairly confident the Boxster and XKR are gonna need the ramps when I get to them! smile
