Temporary Exhaust Flange Repair for MOT
Discussion
Does anybody have a quick fix for a leak at a fairly rusty exhaust flange? Gearbox blew up on my car and I need to get my old Subaru back on the road ASAP. It failed last year on the exhaust leak and I don't have time to wait for a replacement to come from Germany. Welding could be an option as a quick fix to get me through the MOT, but is there another way I could seal it up, even if it only lasts a day or two? I've tried the fire paste stuff and it just blows straight away. Maybe one of those bandaged wrapped tightly around the flange on top of gum around the flange itself?
Warning, bodge method to follow.
Depending on space, obtain a tin of beans, consume said beans, open both ends of tin, snip down one length, snip one end so it could fan out over the flange, hold in place with 3 or more jubilee clips, squeezing a ton of exhaust paste everywhere under the tin?
Done as a bodge to get my car through the MOT, then forgotten about and used for 3 years. (then the car went to the parking lot in the sky)
May or may not work, worst case is you have consumed beans for no reason.

Thanks! It's not completely sealed but a fair bit better. New exhaust is ordered so maybe they'll give me the benefit of the doubt if they know it's being fixed.Depending on space, obtain a tin of beans, consume said beans, open both ends of tin, snip down one length, snip one end so it could fan out over the flange, hold in place with 3 or more jubilee clips, squeezing a ton of exhaust paste everywhere under the tin?
