Solar battery charger and the cigar socket

I have just purchased a solar battery charger for my car. It came with a cigar lighter adapter to charge the battery.
My question is, if my cigar lighter only works with the ignition on then the solar panel can't recharge the battery?

Correct !! you need a perminant live you could rewire the existing one or add a new one ...
