Hopefully someone can help out.

I'm planning on changing the timing belt and water pump on my snotter Fiesta.
It's a 1.25 Zetec Mk4/Mk5 (facelift Mk4)

I've go a belt, new tensioner, pump and new gasket for the camshaft cover.

The strip down looks "reasonably" straight forward although fiddly.

In the timing locking kits that are available there is a bar and pin for setting TDC on the camshaft.
OK with that.

There is also a thicker stronger pin for "locking" the crankshaft.

Does this replace the timing pin once TDC is set or does it fit somewhere else and will it be strong enough to hold the
crankshaft while I undo the crankshaft pulley bolt ?

One last thing - does anyone know the size for the crankshaft pulley bolt or where to get one - apparently should be renewed and not reuse the old one.
The local Ford dealer is a bit tricky to get to otherwise I would just go there.

thanks

DO NOT undo the crank bolt with a pin in the hole unless you have a very good impact wrench, do it with a bar and you will bend the pin which makes removing it rather interesting.

The decent cambelt kits come with a new bolt in the box, otherwise Ford dealer.

Before you put the new belt on, make sure the crank is butted up against the pin (you will be able to turn it anti clockwise but it should hit the pin going clockwise which is where you want it).

Just for info, we have had massive trouble undoing these crank bolts. The older version of the engine we never had trouble with using Snap On/Mac 1/2" impact guns but the newer shapes just wouldn't move. We ended buying a 3/4" gun to do them.

Given the above, I'd get a garage to do it tbh.
