Anyone know what this bulb type is?

It's for the instrument cluster background lighting 12v 2w on an MB 27mm long.

It's the black one in the photo, I know the smaller blue one is an R509T.

The bulb should pull out of the holder I think, so you'll just need a 286 bulb.

Thanks, it does pull out from the cap. You've set me on the right track, I think it's a 501 though. 286 looks a little small.

501 is 5 watt.

Yes 501 is used for a lot of front sidelights, too big for a dash bulb.
